K. Brian Hagen, 54, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence in Wahpeton. The Funeral Service will be Friday, 10:30 am, at the River of Life Community Church (Wahpeton Community Center) Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at Wahpeton Community Center. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Brian was born June 28, 1958, in Decatur, IL, the son of Kenith and Lorene (Tilinski) Hagen. He grew up in Mt. Zion, IL, and married Lynette Baker on July 10, 1982. He was employed by A.E. Staley Corn Milling for 15 years. In 1996 they relocated to Wahpeton, ND, and worked at Cargill. He has been employed in various positions at Cargill, currently as Maintenance Manager.

She worked in retail loss prevention, Daytons, Fargo, ND and was an investigator for Macy’s East, McLean, VA. She was a caregiver for her mother until her mother’s death.

Robert was born January 25, 1937 at Ellendale, ND, the son of Robert F. and Hazel (Norby) Donahe. He grew up and attended school in Ellendale, working with his father at Donahe Shoe Service. He entered the US Army and served in Germany as a medic. After his Honorable Discharge he returned to Ellendale and continued to help his father and also work for the Standard Station. It was at this time he started work in police work, starting part-time, which began his 30 year career in Law Enforcement.

Susan Adelle Trageton, 70, of Breckenridge, MN died Sunday, May 12 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Sienna Court in Wahpeton, ND under the care of Riveredge Hospice and lovingly surrounded by her family. The funeral will be 11:00AM, Thursday, May 16 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Manning will be officiating. The visitation will be from 5 to 8PM, Wednesday, May 15 with a prayer service at 7PM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton, ND at a later date.
Susan Foley was born August 6, 1942 at Wahpeton, ND to Palmer and Borghild (Engerhom) Foley. She was born and raised in rural DeLamere, ND, attending school in DeLamere and graduating in 1960. She obtained her teaching certificate from Valley City State College in 1962. Her first teaching position was teaching second grade in Northwood Public School. It was in Northwood where she met the love of her life, Oliver Trageton. On December 28, 1965 Susan and Oliver were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural DeLamere. They began their lives together in Breckenridge, MN where they both taught in the public school. She taught second grade from 1965 to 1973 all the while working on her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She graduated from Mayville State College in 1971. Susan and Oliver adopted Sara Renae Trageton, who was born February 1, 1973. Susan chose to resign from teaching to be home with their long-awaited daughter; however she did continue to substitute in the Breckenridge Public School system. From 1989 to 1993, she taught third grade, half-time, and then first grade, until she retired in 2001. She poured so much of herself into her students inside and outside of the classroom. She had a "magic" way of making connections and forming bonds, and saw the worth of each child. Susan delighted in tracking and staying in touch with her former students.

Gregg Hamilton Bale, the son of Agnes and Kirk Bale Sr., was born in Wahpeton, ND, on November 9, 1930. He grew up and received his education in Wahpeton and in Velva, ND. In 1950, Gregg entered the US Army. He served overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953.

June worked with her husband on their farm near Colfax, ND until 1971 when they moved to West Fargo, ND. She worked with Rueben in the insurance business in West Fargo. She taught Sunday school, was ladies aid secretary/treasurer, and was a member of the altar guild and church choir at Galchutt Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Galchutt Homemakers Club. She was presently a member of Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.

Sandy was born on October 31, 1941, to Bud and Gladys McLeod. She was an only child and the first grandchild in her mother's large family, and grew accustomed to getting her way on most occasions. She grew up in Ottertail City, MN, attended elementary grades in a two room school house in Ottertail City, and attended Jr. High School at John-Marshall Junior High, St. Paul, MN, before she graduated from Perham MN, High School in 1959. She attended the University of Minnesota and completed her medical laboratory assisting certificate. On February 23, 1963 she married Robert W. Caspers at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls, MN. The couple lived in the Twin Cities where Sandy worked at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN. They moved to Wahpeton, ND, in 1971 where they raised their family and operated Caspers Furniture Store until their retirement. In 2007 they moved to their home on Otter Tail Lake, MN, although she continued to work part-time at Wahpeton Floral and Gift until her health declined. She was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2002, a somewhat treatable but incurable cancer of the white blood cells. With the aid of wonderful medical personnel, the prayers of family and friends and her own determination and stubbornness, Sandy lived the life she wanted for most of the next eleven years before going home to her lord and her ancestors. Sandy will be sadly missed but we will remember her courage and strength in defying the odds with her myeloma.

She grew up in Ottertail City, MN, attended elementary grades in a two room school house in Ottertail City, and attended Jr. High School at John-Marshall Junior High, St. Paul, MN, before she graduated from Perham MN, High School in 1959. She attended the University of Minnesota and completed her medical laboratory assisting certificate. On February 23, 1963 she married Robert W. Caspers at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls, MN. The couple lived in the Twin Cities where Sandy worked at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN. They moved to Wahpeton, ND, in 1971 where they raised their family and operated Caspers Furniture Store until their retirement. In 2007 they moved to their home on Otter Tail Lake, MN, although she continued to work part-time at Wahpeton Floral and Gift until her health declined. She was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2002, a somewhat treatable but incurable cancer of the white blood cells. With the aid of wonderful medical personnel, the prayers of family and friends and her own determination and stubbornness, Sandy lived the life she wanted for most of the next eleven years before going home to her lord and her ancestors. Sandy will be sadly missed but we will remember her courage and strength in defying the odds with her myeloma.

Gary Duggan was born December 28, 1938 in Ayr, ND, the son of Floyd and Ella (Schneekloth) Duggan. He was raised in Page, ND and graduated from Page High School in 1958. He married Carol Palmer July 2, 1960 in Page, ND.
Gary attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and graduated in May 1961 with associates degree in heating and air conditioning. In 1962, he entered the Army and was stationed in Fort Carson, CO and later did his service in Vicenza, Italy. Upon completion of his military career in 1963, they returned back to the West Fargo area.

Leroy E. Van Cleave, 60, Wahpeton, ND died on Thursday January 10, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 15, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jim Gustafson officiating. Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Military Honors with ND Military Honors and Wahpeton Military Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Willow Creek Chapel (920 3rd Avenue North) Wahpeton from 5:00-8:00 P.M., with a 7 PM Prayer Service. Leroy was born March 23, 1952 at Breckenridge, MN the son of Gerald and Kay (Carr) Van Cleave. He grew up south of Wahpeton and attended rural school at Center and Summit. He attended junior high and high school in Wahpeton and entered the US Air Force. Leroy married Patricia Armstrong on December 2, 1972. He served for seven years as an environmental specialist in various bases in the US, including Southeast Asia until 1978, with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He returned to the Wahpeton area and joined the Air National Guard for the next twenty years; being proud of his association with the “Happy Hooligans”. During this time he drove truck privately and with Murphy Transfer, Three Rivers Trucking, Wahpeton; Charlie Green and Hi-Tech. He married Eileen Nelson on September 17, 1993, they made their home in Wahpeton. In recent years as health declined he enjoyed remodeling and woodworking.
