Regina Ann Larson, 58, of Fertile, MN, died on Friday, February 8, 2013, near her home. She was born on May 18, 1954, to Harold and Ruth (Ofstedal) Larson in Crookston, MN. Regina was baptized and confirmed at Little Norway Lutheran Church, rural Fertile. She graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1972, and studied Criminal Justice at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN, graduating in 1976.
Regina worked as a Probation Officer in Norman County until 1980, when she began studying at Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, MN. She graduated in 1983, and practiced law in St. Paul, MN. Regina returned to Ada, MN in 1985, practicing law at Hellerud and Larson Law Office. On February 25, 1986, Regina was united in marriage to Mark Hellerud at Perley, MN. She continued to practice law until the present. Regina was active in the Norman County D.F.L. Party, where she contributed her time, effort and expertise to their work. Regina also worked with the Economic Development Authority in Ada, served as a director of the Day Activity Center in Ada in the 1980's and was a panel attorney for Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota.

Harold A. Bonawitz, 89, of Fargo, ND, died on Friday, June 7, 2013, in Essentia Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Harold was born November 13, 1923, in Greenbush, MN, to Raymond and Agnes (Nelson) Bonawitz. He grew up and attended school in Fargo, ND. In 1943, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Harold married Joyce Voldness on August 28, 1949, in Thief River Falls, MN. Together they lived in Fargo for a time before settling in Moorhead. For 36 years, Harold worked as a driver and a salesman for Dwyer Beverage Co., and Hansen Distributing. As a young man Harold raised pigeons and later enjoyed working in his yard and flower gardens and took up golf in his retirement years. He enjoyed attending Bison football games and had season tickets for the FM Redhawks for 10 years. Harold was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fargo.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce; daughters, Nancy (Larry) Erickson of Moorhead, MN, Pamela (Don) Blaeser of Fertile, MN; grandchildren, Jodi (Adam) Sorenson of Austin, TX, Eric (Ambra Markos) Odness of Brooklyn, NY, Emily Blaeser of Fertile, MN, Misty (Brandon) Hanson of Elk River, MN, Tara (Kris) Lofstrom of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kailey, Nicholas, Ashlyn, Trystan and Sven; sister, Betty (Wallace) Grund; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Elsie Carlson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Elsie died peacefully with her husband and children at her side.
Elsie was born on Nov 23, 1925 to Tora and Magnus Wrede in Fertile. MN. She attended grade school in Glyndon; her family moved to Valley City where she graduated from Valley City High school in 1944, then on to graduate from Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing. While in Bismarck, she met and fell in love with Levi Carlson, a farmer from Nome, ND. They were married on February 28, 1948 in a blinding blizzard. After retirement, they spent winters in Mesa, Arizona enjoying the warm weather and the company of good friends.

Alton J. Mjolsness, 84, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND. Alton was born December 8, 1928, in Perley, MN, to Nels and Alma (Borgen) Mjolsness. He grew up in Felton and graduated from Felton High School. After serving in the military he returned to Felton and farmed. He took pride in his farm and continued there until moving to Fargo in 1992. Alton enjoyed traveling and especially loved the time spent with family.

Lars Hamre
Lars Hamre, age 96, of Twin Valley, MN died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
Lars Hamre was born December 7, 1915, the son of Edward and Rosa (Nelson) Hamre near Fertile, MN. He grew up on the family farm south of Fertile and attended country school in that area, graduating from Fertile High School with the class of 1934. As a young man, Lars farmed with his family. On October 14, 1938 Lars was united in marriage to Evelyn Dokken in Ada, MN. The couple lived on several farms in Norman County before purchasing a farm east of Twin Valley where they operated a grain and dairy farm for the next 40 years. Lars was a township Assessor in Norman County for many years, a job that he truly loved, continuing even into his retirement. In 1984 Lars and Evelyn sold the farm and moved into Twin Valley and in 1999 they moved into the Normandy. Lars became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in December of 2006, which he called home until the time of his death. Evelyn, his wife of over 70 years, died March 2, 2009.

Robert A. Gigler, 96, Ada, MN, died at Grand Forks, ND, on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
Robert was born April 13, 1917, at home on the farm near Ada, the son of Frank and Martha (Duenow) Gigler. He grew up and attended country school near Ada. Lorraine died in 2000 and Robert continued to live at home until recently moving to Bridges Care Community in Ada.

Susan ReNaye Stromstad was born August 20, 1951 at Crookston, MN to parents, Raymond & Marvie Stromstad. She attended school in Beltrami and later in Fertile. She graduated in 1969 from the Fertile-Beltrami High School. She attended the Anne Carlsen School in Jamestown and then worked for 3 years at the Crookston Library in the ’70’s. She spent time at Camp Courage in the summers of her youth and later stayed at Courage Center in Minneapolis where she received computer training. She lived at a Mary T Home for handicapped and was employed at Rise Inc. where she used her computer skills. Just this past October she was awarded the “Rising Star” Award for her dedicated work at Rise Inc. She so enjoyed her work that she hoped she wouldn’t have to retire at 65.

Andrew Lundon Jr. “Drew”, age 4 months of Waubun, MN, died at Mahnomen Health Center on April 30, 2013.
Andrew William Lundon Jr., the son of Andrew Lundon Sr. and Cady Bellanger, was born on December 18, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He spent much of his life traveling between his home in Waubun and Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Although Drew was only with his family for a few short months his parents, grandparents, all those who loved him truly cherished each moment. Andrew Lundon Jr. “Drew”, age 4 months of Waubun, MN, died at Mahnomen Health Center on April 30, 2013.
Andrew William Lundon Jr., the son of Andrew Lundon Sr. and Cady Bellanger, was born on December 18, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He spent much of his life traveling between his home in Waubun and Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Although Drew was only with his family for a few short months his parents, grandparents, all those who loved him truly cherished each moment. They spent many hours cuddling, giving hugs, and spending precious time together. He was just beginning to share smiles and coo’s, especially while getting his tiny toes massaged. Alton Bendickson
Alton Bendickson, 63, Bejou, MN, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Veteran Administration Health Care Systems in Fargo, ND, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Alton Keith Bendickson was born March 24, 1950, in Mahnomen, MN, the son of Bertram and Albertha (TerWisscha) Bendickson. He grew up and attended grade school in Bejou. Alton graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1968. In 1969, he entered the US Army. After his honorable discharge in 1971, Alton worked as a police officer in the cities of Fertile and Mahnomen before becoming a deputy for the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office. In the early 1980's, he was employed at American Crystal Sugar and then for Roger Wang in his plumbing and heating business. Most recently, Alton worked for Stenerson Home Improvement of Moorhead for 12 years, and was also employed part-time at Hector Airport as a security guard. Alton continued to work both jobs until his failing health forced him into retirement. His optimistic attitude was an inspiration to all.

Thomas "Mickey" Snortland
Thomas Mikal "Mickey" Snortland, age 63, who lived life fully in Sharon Township, Steele County, ND and in Fargo, ND, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013.
Mickey was born on October 29, 1949 in Sharon, ND, the son of Thomas L. "Buck" and Vivienne (Thompson) Snortland. He attended school in Sharon, ND, and graduated from Shattuck High School in Faribault, MN, in 1968. A natural athlete, he played baseball, ran cross-country and was part of the All-Conference starting five undefeated basketball team. As R.O.T.C Band Company Commander, his company was the Best Drill Team two years in a row. He attended college at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity there. Throughout his life he maintained strong ties with his valued classmates.
