Edna Revland of Fargo died at Villa Maria on Thursday, October 10, 2013, one day past her 98th birthday.

Edna Celestia Berger was born in Fort Ransom, ND, the youngest of eight children of the Reverend Anders and Carrie (Strinden) Berger. A graduate of Valley City State Teachers College, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Mott, ND, until her marriage to Cletis Revland, also of Fort Ransom. They moved to Fargo in 1943. In 1955 they became charter members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Edna Beatrice Satreaas
Edna Beatrice Hanson, 86, went home with her savior, Jesus Christ, on March 23rd, 2014 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin ND.

Edna was born on October 17, 1946 to Hans and Annie (Simmons) Hanson of rural Fort Ransom. She graduated high school from Fort Ransom. Edna married Arthur Satreaas on January 24, 1946 and they made their home on a farm north of Verona where they raised their four children. They worked together until they retired in 1981. Their son took over the operation at that time but they continued to help with the farm and watch their grandchildren grow.

Muriel Rufsvold
Muriel Rufsvold, 93, died Saturday, May 11, at the Veteran's Home in Lisbon, ND. Muriel Melhus was born in Willmar, MN on May 8, 1920. Her family later moved to Minneapolis, where she graduated from South High School. She then attended Augsburg College and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing to become a registered nurse. Soon after, she served during WWII as an Army nurse in an Evacuation Hospital in the Pacific Theater. December 27, 1947, she married Owen Rufsvold. They lived in Illinois, Minneapolis, and then settled on the family farm in Fort Ransom. She was a nurse at the Lisbon Hospital for 26 years.

She is survived by three children: Philip (Colleen) Rufsvold of Fort Ransom; Janine (Jerry) Stene of Fargo, ND; and Nina (Royce) Aardahl of Sauk Rapids, MN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ow

Eleanor Block
Eleanor Block, 102, of Oakes, ND, formerly of LaMoure, ND, passed away on April 6, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes.

Eleanor Rasmusson, daughter of Ramus and Martina (Nesby) Rasmusson was born on June 9, 1911. She attended grade school at the Black Loam School near Fort Ransom, ND. Eleanor was united in marriage to Norbert Block January 20, 1933 at Fort Ransom. They farmed near Verona until the fall of 1933, when they moved with Norbert's father to a farm near LaMoure. They were active in farming until March of 1990, when Norbert became ill. He passed away on June 24, 1990. Eleanor continued to live on the farm until that fall when she moved into town. Eleanor lived with her son Robert, both in LaMoure and later Oakes, before they became residents of the Good Samaritan Society.

Adeline Mae Erickson
Adeline M. Erickson, 85, of Fargo, ND, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2013. She died at Sanford Health in Fargo, surrounded by loved ones.

Adeline was born May 2, 1928 in Appleton, WI, to John and Thea (Thompson) Erickson. As a child, she moved with her family to Fort Ransom, ND. She attended school at Fort Ransom, graduating from high school in 1946. After graduating, Adeline worked in Fargo for a few years and then moved to Oakland, California, where she began her career with Blue Cross-Blue Shield. She transferred back to Fargo for a short time in the early 50's and then returned to California until 1970, when she again returned to Fargo and resided there until the time of her death. After retiring from Blue Cross-Blue Shield, she worked at various temporary positions and volunteered at the Dakota Hospital gift shop for many years. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in North Fargo. Adeline enjoyed traveling, playing some bingo, and spending time with her many friends and family. She especially appreciated the friendships at Sunrise North during her recent illness. They were her extended family.

Ransom and graduated in 1941. After receiving her teaching degree in 1943 from Valley City State Teachers College, she taught at Svea rural school and in Oakes, ND. She wanted adventure and went west teaching at Dickinson Public School where she met lifelong friends Phyllis Knutson and Inga Kelner.

Dorine Haarsager, 77, passed away peacefully August 10th, 2013 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family. Dorine was born November 10th, 1935 in Fort Ransom, ND, the daughter of Linas and Viola (Eliason) Rufsvold.

On December 31, 1959, she married Alfred "Affie" Haarsager in Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in rural Litchville, ND where they farmed and raised four children. After retiring, they lived in Valley City and West Fargo, ND. Affie died in May 2000. Dorine continued to live in West Fargo until moving to Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
