Elaine Doris (Wohler) Johnson-Ruhn
Elaine Johnson-Ruhn, 85, passed away Saturday, April 6th 2013 at Parkside Nursing Home, Lisbon, ND. Elaine was born May 9th, 1927 to Hans and Edith (Johnson) Wohler in the rural Milnor area. She attended country school and then Milnor High School.
On July 24th 1943, she was married to Lloyd A. Johnson at Webster, SD. They made their home in rural Milnor. They were blessed with 7 children before moving to a farm site in rural Gwinner in 1954, where they had 3 more children; Larry (Sally) Johnson, Milnor; Donna; Duane (Betty) Johnson, Gwinner; Carolyn (Richard) Jacobson, Lisbon; Kay (Larry) Swanson, Gwinner; Kent (Julie) Johnson, Gwinner; Charlene (Bill) Smith, Forman; Miles (Lannae) Johnson, Gwinner; Allan; and Dale (Joanne) Johnson, Roseville, MN.

Mary L. Johnson
Mary L. Johnson, 57, of Gwinner, ND, died in her home January 16, 2013, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with cancer on October 12, 2004, and survived for 8 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Dr. Steen called her "The Energizer Bunny".
Mary LuAnn, the third of five children born to Orlie and Hope (Warner) Johnson was born on March 15, 1955 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She graduated from Milnor High School in 1973, and then attended NDSU. On June 18, 1979, Mary became employed with the Bobcat Company, Gwinner, North Dakota, and worked there until retiring April 1, 2010. In October of 1979, Mary moved to Gwinner making it her home, and in 2001 she bought her house. Mary adopted her beloved cat, Guzie, on Mother's Day in 2001. Mary was very involved in her church, softball, and volleyball. She faithfully followed the Minnesota Twins, and enjoyed going to many Twins baseball games with her family. She also enjoyed following the Vikings, the Timberwolves, and the University of North Carolina.

Mary L. Johnson, 57, of Gwinner, ND, died in her home January 16, 2013, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with cancer on October 12, 2004, and survived for 8 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Dr. Steen called her "The Energizer Bunny".

Ione Donna Faye (Schonberger) Anderson was born on July 29, 1924 in Buffalo, ND to Roman and Lora (Groth) Schonberger. During her youth she attended schools in Litchville, Chaffee, Casselton, and graduated from Wheatland in 1942. After high school, Ione attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She worked in the Bonding Department at the State Capitol in Bismarck and then the State Seed Department on the NDSU campus in Fargo. Ione was united in marriage to Vernal Leo Anderson on Sept. 12, 1948. They lived in Edgeley from 1950 until 1953 when they moved to Vernal’s grandparents’ farm southwest of Gwinner where they farmed and raised their three children. They lived there until Vernal’s passing in 1987. Ione continued to live on the home place until 1995. Besides helping on the farm, Ione worked as a clerk at the Post Office in Gwinner and Forman for 20 years. She also served on the REC Board at RSR Electric in Milnor from 1987 to 1995. In 1995 Ione moved to Valley City, where she kept active quilting with the Good Samaritans Quilters at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and Grace Free Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, eating noon meals, visiting, and various activities at the Senior Center. From 2006 until the present she lived at Bethany Towers in Fargo.
She is survived by a daughter, Dallas (Kevin) Carpenter of Gillette, WY; two sons, Kevin (Karen) Anderson of Gwinner, ND; Vern (Deborah) Anderson of Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcell (Howard) Wergeland of Moorhead, MN. Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Vernal; her parents; two sisters; and a brother.

Roger White
Roger White, 70, Stirum, ND died April 25 at Sanford Medical Center surrounded by family. Roger was born July 31, 1942 in Britton, SD to Paul and Violet (Hill) White. He attended the Stirum School and went on to college in Wahpeton. In 1962, he married Connie Robins and together they had two children: Tracey and Paul. Roger worked at Melroe Manufacturing (Bobcat) until 1974 and then he took on full-time farming. He retired from farming in 2006. Roger was a Gwinner Volunteer Fireman, a member of North Sargent School Board, G.A. Men's Group, Stirum Community Club, Sargent County Water Board, Red River Basin Commission and Vivian Township Board. He became a member of the Mason's and Shiners' in 1998. Roger enjoyed his years of raising grain and row crops, pedal tractor pulls, go cart racing, car club and playing pool with friends. He looked forward to the summer when he could drive his '57 Ford Fairlane Convertible in area parades. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing and was always proud to watch his grandchildren in school events. Roger is survived by his wife, Connie; two children Tracey (Jerry) Waswick and Paul (Jennifer) White all of Gwinner, ND. Roger adored his five grandchildren; Shane and Dustin White, Emily, Sarahbeth and Ben Waswick. He is also survived by one sister; Carolyn Hopewell, Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service for Roger will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Gwinner. Beverley Ann Johnson was born on March 21, 1931, at Gwinner, ND, the daughter of Arthur and Beulah Johnson. The family moved to Hendrum, MN, where Beverley graduated from high school in 1949. Bev married Francis Dyrendahl June 11, 1950. They were married forty-nine years when Francis passed away August 9, 1999.
Bev worked a variety of jobs over the years, including day care, owner of the Hendrum Cafe with her husband, Francis, and the US Post Office. She retired from Norman County West Elementary School in Hendrum.
