Richard Willis Menge
Richard Willis Menge, 70, of Seattle, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, March 6, at an assisted living facility in Gaithersburg, MD. Richard was born in Fertile, Minn., the second child of Willis and Gladys (Skjervem) Menge. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1960, and graduated with a degree in architecture from North Dakota State University in 1965. He worked as a projectionist at the family-owned movie theaters in the Fargo area, while in high school and college. While attending NDSU, Richard married his high school sweetheart, Bunny Rae Forness, The family moved to Madison, Wis., where Richard obtained a Master's degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin. The family moved to London where he interned with an architectural firm. Richard worked for many years with architectural firms in the Washington, D.C., and Maryland area, overseeing architectural projects in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emarites and other mid-Eastern countries, as well as in Nigeria in Africa. His family often traveled with him, but they also established a home in Bethesda, Md. He completed major work for Flad Architects in Madison, and also completed projects for the firm and others in Seattle. Richard is predeceased by his father, Willis, his wife, Bunny, and is survived by his three sons: Brett (Robin), Washington Grove, Md.; Chad (Linda), Takoma Park, Md., and Doha, Qatar, and Caleb (Kimberly), Park City, Utah, and wife, Morgan Hewitt. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys, Scottsdale, Ariz., two sisters, Sandra (Pete) Atkins, Cabot, Vt., and Kathleen (Walter) Johnson, Winchester, Va.; four grandchildren: Emily, Jordan, Linnea and Kurtis Menge, nieces, nephews and cousins. At his request, there were no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fargo Public Schools Foundation, 415 N. 4th St., Fargo,
