DENVER, Colo. - A Fargo man recovering from a life-changing ATV accident last summer is continuing his rehabilitation at Craig Hospital in Denver. Jason Larkin, 44, a father of three, is one of 12 people from North Dakota who have been hospitalized at Craig.

Kay Keller
Kay (Kittelson) Keller passed away on July 25, 2013 at her home in Hillsboro, while under the care of her family, friends and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Kay was wife to Ross, mother to Dana (Joe) Larkin- Hawley, MN, Andrea Votava - West Fargo, and Kallyn (Adam) Gettel - Hillsboro, grandmother to Jordan Johnson, Evan Johnson, Alli Larkin, Lilly Larkin, Emma Larkin, Nate Larkin, Tiana Votava, Kason Bucholz, Rylan Bucholz and James Fortman, daughter to Georgene Kittelson - Grafton, sister to Greg (Sally) Kittelson - Edmond, OK, Guy Kittelson - Grand Forks, Kristi (Bill) Dahl - Grafton, Bonnie (Kevin) Lien - Fargo, Brett Kittelson - Grafton, David Kittelson - Grand Forks, Kerri (Wayne) Stegman - Drayton, Troy (Sally) Kittelson - Hoople, and Shane Kittelson - Middle River, MN, daughter-in-law to Bob (Avis) Keller - Bisbee, aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, quilting friend to Becky Kraby and Jeannie Chandler, and special friend to Janice Lorch.

Kay was born on October 4, 1957 in Grafton, ND where she graduated from high school in 1975. Kay made her home in the Grafton area until 1989 when she and her daughters moved to Devils Lake so she could attend UND - Lake Region. While attending college in Devils Lake she went on a blind date resulting in her marriage to Ross on May 18, 1991. After her marriage, her family moved to Bismarck where Kay worked as a paralegal for the North Dakota State Land Department and Attorney General's office. In 1994 Kay and her family moved to Hillsboro where she worked as a bank teller and high school secretary before becoming the owner of the Traill County Abstract and Title Company in 1999. Owning the Traill County Abstract and Title Company and researching the land records of Traill County was Kay's dream job and she was still proofreading and editing up to the time of her death.

Louise Caroline (Hoppe) Hammerstrom
Louise Caroline (Hoppe) Hammerstrom, age 97, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 12, 2013, 11:00 A.M., at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Louise Caroline (Hoppe) Hammerstrom was born on November 12, 1915, to August and Charlotte (Ernst) Hoppe at their farm home 8 miles south of Sabin, Minnesota. She attended 1st through 8th grades at Koester Country School on the old "KT" road, which was 1-3/4 miles away from her home. Louise and her siblings walked on the dirt and gravel road even when it was 20 degrees below zero. If there was a blizzard, her Dad gave them a ride on the old fashioned cutter sleigh with warm bricks at their feet. When her younger sister, Grace announced, "I'm going to high school," Louise decided that she would also attend with her sister. Both girls stayed with Grandpa and Grandma Ernst in Barnesville, Minnesota, while attending school. Grace quit school her junior year because she didn't want to have to work for room and board but Louise did. Summers she worked for Mrs. Oliver in Pelican Lake, Minnesota, and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1937. Upon high school graduation she worked for 2 years first in Moorhead, then Minneapolis, and finally Fort Snelling saving money to study nursing at Vocational Hospital in Minneapolis, finishing her PN degree at Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis. With her PN degree, her first job was at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, then the Kenner Hospital in Chicago.

Border West junior 120-pound wrestler Cameron Sykora sat with his back against the wall, knees up and his head resting on his arms.
