Olive Diede, 87, Detroit Lakes, MN died on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Olive Dockter was born July 6, 1926 to Emil and Albina (Hochhalter) Dockter on the family farm near Venturia, ND. She was the oldest of five children and attended McIntosh County Country School through 8th grade. Olive was married to Christ A. Diede on October 7, 1945 in Ashley, ND. They lived on farms south of Venturia, ND and then east of Eureka, SD until 1953, when they moved to West Fargo, ND. They had three daughters, and for the majority of the time raised their children in Moorhead, MN.

Myrna Snider, 90, Moorhead, MN passed away on December 8, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Moorhead.

Myrna Beth Farmer, the daughter of George and Emma (Rouz) Farmer was born September 28, 1923 at Trenton, ND. She grew up on a farm northeast of Williston, ND and attended a country school. She moved to Williston, ND. Myrna married Norman A. Snider on January 17, 1942 in Sydney, MT. The couple made their home in Williston. They moved to Crookston, MN in 1958. It was there Myrna began a lifelong career working for the Salvation Army. In 1964 the couple moved to Fargo where Myrna continued to work for the Salvation Army until retiring in 1996. Her husband, Norman, died in 1997.

Garritt Anthony Ledeboer, 92, passed away on March 6, 2014, after a short illness, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo. Garritt was born on June 12, 1921 in Prinsburg, MN. He attended country school and worked on the farm until the age of 16. The family moved to Moorhead where he graduated from high school and joined the Army Air Force, being trained as a flight engineer. He married Kathleen Peterson in October 1942.

Sylvia Lillie Lydia Dietz was born May 20, 1926, the youngest of eight children to Herman and Lillie (Kolander) Dietz, at Vesta, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN, in 1943. Sylvia then moved to Fargo, ND, where she graduated from the New York Beauty Academy and kept that license for nine years.

James "Jim" Allyn Brekke
James "Jim" Allyn Brekke succumbed to a long courageous battle with lung cancer due to Agent Orange on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Jim was born September 27, 1941 to Julius and Alma (Beauchamp) Brekke in Crookston, MN. Jim attended school in Hibbing, MN, before moving to Buffalo, SD, where he graduated from high school. While in Buffalo Jim worked on a ranch and became very active with the rodeos where he rode bucking broncos and bulls. He later worked in Minneapolis before entering the service where he was stationed in Hawaii, Japan and Viet Nam. When he returned to the States he went to work on the Iron Range before moving to Minneapolis, where he graduated from Brown Institute. He started working for Northwestern Bell. Jim worked his way into management and became a lead auditor for 14 states. He continued that until he retired after 26 years.

Jim was a life member of Dilworth VFW Post 1223 where he was also the Head of the House Committee for quite some time. One of his favorite jobs was calling bingo at the VFW with his “girls.” He was also a member of the American Legion, Viet Nam Veterans, an International Jaycees Senator, International Clown Club, a past President of Moorhead Youth Hockey (1982 – 1984), VP of Promotion and Publicity for Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association and a Jr. Vice Commander for District 9 before stepping down due to illness. He was a Boy Scout Leader, attended the Dale Carnegie classes, a member of Pioneers of America and although he couldn’t skate he was instrumental in getting artificial ice into Moorhead. Jim also participated in the Wounded Warriors Project and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead.

Donna Marie Russell, Omaha, went home to be with Jesus after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born, raised, educated, worked, and resided in Fargo, ND for 55 years. She moved to Omaha in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Eleanor; sister Darlene; two aunts and an uncle; and several grandbabies she never got to hold but are with her now. She is survived by a son, Michael; daughters, Susan (Jo) and Shannon (Michael). She also had two grandsons, Rick and Alex and three granddaughters, Mariah, Gabriella, and Selah, whom she loved beyond measure! She is also survived by her brothers, Dave (Ginny) and Dan (Diane); and her aunt Rose. Her faith, family and friends were the most important things to her. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, listening to Casting Crowns, reading, GW Boutique and shoes. She was so brave and so strong for so long. She was told in mid-November that she had at most three weeks to live. She looked that doctor in the eyes and stated, "God will decide when my time here is up. No doctor is going to tell me when I am going to die." She was right. She lived exactly 21 weeks after getting that devastating news. She was a true pro-life hero! She believed in the intrinsic value of each and every human life. It was sad that she often wasn't treated with the same value that she believed everyone has. A special thanks to all her caregivers over the past 18 months. She appreciated you so very much. A Celebration of her Life will be held Thursday, April 17 at 10am at Roeder Mortuary.
