Myrna Snider
Myrna Snider, 90, Moorhead, MN passed away on December 8, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Moorhead.

Myrna Beth Farmer, the daughter of George and Emma (Rouz) Farmer was born September 28, 1923 at Trenton, ND. She grew up on a farm northeast of Williston, ND and attended a country school. She moved to Williston, ND. Myrna married Norman A. Snider on January 17, 1942 in Sydney, MT. The couple made their home in Williston. They moved to Crookston, MN in 1958. It was there Myrna began a lifelong career working for the Salvation Army. In 1964 the couple moved to Fargo where Myrna continued to work for the Salvation Army until retiring in 1996. Her husband, Norman, died in 1997.

Vivian Lerud, 91, Valley City, ND died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.

Vivian Dorothy Johnson was born February 5, 1923 on a farm near Amenia, ND to Gust and Lois (Bly) Johnson. At the age of nine, she moved with her parents to a farm near Hunter, ND. She attended the rural Bell School and later graduated from high school in Hunter. She worked for area farm families until going to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked for the Munsingwear Co. After returning to Hunter, she married Arnold O. Lerud on December 11, 1943 at Perley, MN. They lived at Perley for two years before moving to a farm near Gardner, ND, where they lived until moving to a farm near Hunter. In 1971, they moved back to Gardner and farmed before returning to Hunter in 1980. Arnold died in 1982. Vivian moved to Fargo in 2001 and to Valley City in 2010.

Frances Grace Nelson was born November 29, 1932, in Perley, MN, to Carl and Katherine (Schibsted) Nelson. Frances was raised in the Perley area where she received her education.

She was married to Alfred E. Aabye on April 20, 1968, in Perley, and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. Alfred died on November 6, 1986, and Frances continued to make her home in Moorhead.

Thomas P. Johnson, 77, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, County Hwy 20 in rural Detroit Lakes, Reverends John Lee and Robert LaPlante, officiating. Interment will be in Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.

Friends may call 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Monday at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

The University of North Dakota’s Gamma Phi Beta sorority (Forum, April 8) did something almost unthinkable and very insensitive; they hung up a banner saying “You can take away our mascot but you can’t take away our pride.” Wow, does it get any worse than that? Jeffrey Alan Moellenkamp, 60, Ash Fork, AZ passed away on April 8, 2014 at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Phoenix AZ.

Jeff was born June 15, 1953 in Lisbon ND to Robert and Esther (Stram) Moellenkamp. He grew up in Lisbon and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1971. In June 1974 he married Catherine Ronning and they had two children. After working for a utility company in South Dakota and Nebraska he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976. In September, 1987 Jeff married Barb Jacobs, they made their home in Fargo. Barb passed away in December 2005.
