Robert Milhart Mikulecky, 88, of Ulen, Minnesota, passed away on May 16, 2013 at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Robert M. Mikulecky was born June 2, 1924, at Hitterdal, Minnesota, to Frank and Elizabeth (Sic) Mikulecky. He attended school in Hitterdal and worked on the family farm. After his parents passed away, Robert farmed the homestead and had a dairy operation with his brother, Frank. They spent many years restoring tractors and gas engines accumulating a large collection of John Deere tractors which they became infamous for over the years. After Frank passed in 1998, Robert spent time attending many farm auctions but with declining health, Robert moved into assisted living at the Viking Manor in Ulen, Minnesota in 2012, where he spent many hours reminiscing with the other residents, friends, and family.

Betty Lou Sorenson, 76, left this earth to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her home in Oakes, ND.

Betty Lou was the thirteenth child of Carl and Anna (Olson) Westrom, born on October 25, 1936 in Arne Township, Benson County, North Dakota. She attended school in Maddock, graduating from high school in 1955. She worked as a nanny for two years after high school in Sioux Falls. Betty met Gerald R. Sorenson, a young Marine soldier on a bus, returning from leave to his home in Harvey, North Dakota. Gerald R. Sorenson and Betty Lou Westrom were united in marriage at the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, North Dakota on February 20, 1957. Jerry and Betty made their home in a variety of places due to Jerry's job with the Bureau of Reclamation including Bismarck, ND, Othello, WA, Loup City, NE, before moving to Oakes, in 1966. Betty worked for the Good Samaritan Center in Oakes for 27 years, before retiring to be the primary caregiver to her husband for 12 years before he passed away on January 12, 2001. Betty enjoyed crafts, puzzle solving and being with her family.
