Laurel (Thurmer) Wegener
Laurel Louise (Thurmer) Wegener, 71, Fargo, ND passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 14, 1942 to Leonard and Irma (Strege) Thurmer in Veblen, SD and grew up on a farm near Lidgerwood, ND. Laurel attended elementary school at Duerr #5 and then graduated from Lidgerwood High School.

On December 8, 1960, Laurel was united in marriage to Lowell Wegener at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Claire City, SD. Shortly after, they moved to the Twin Cities area where they lived for 10 years. In 1975, the couple moved to the Wegener homestead near Claire City, SD and also purchased the Thurmer homestead. Laurel and Lowell enjoyed the farm life for almost 30 years until they retired in 2002. The couple moved to Fargo in 2006.

Irene Hehr, 88, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Villa Maria Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Irene Martha Hehr was born March 8, 1925 in rural Kulm, ND to August and Maria (Kalmbach) Hehr. She attended school in Pomona View Township, school #4, and in 1935 moved to Kulm with her parents where she finished elementary school and graduated from high school in 1943. She taught rural school near Fredonia for two years and was employed at Anderson Store and Peoples Store in Kulm.

Larry P. Noriega
Larry P. Noriega, 84, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his home in West Fargo.

Larry Paul (Hilario Arenas) Noriega was born March 31, 1929 near Sutherland, Nebraska, to Patricio Arenas Noriega and Anita Venegas Noriega. He attended school in Grand Island and in O’Fallons, and graduated from Cozad High School in 1948. He was drafted into the United States Army in March of 1951, and served in Korea from August 1951 to May of 1952. He was a staff sergeant with the 2nd Division 82nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion and was honorably discharged December 1, 1952 at Fort Cronkite, San Francisco. Following his return to Nebraska, he worked in Cozad at a hay mill and gas station before moving to Grand Island, where he worked as a mechanic and cab driver before beginning his career as a lather.

Maxine Marie Schuler
Maxine Marie Schuler, age 83, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Wahpeton, ND, and Campbell, MN, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014, under Hospice Care in her son's home. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, MN. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Vukku Lutheran Church, rural Foxhome, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor John Andrews will be officiating. Interment will be at Vukku Lutheran Cemetery.

Maxine Marie was born on September 1, 1930, to Edward and Anita (Kakeldey) DeBus, in Welcome, MN; where she grew up and attended school. On October 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Fredric "Fritz" Schuler in Spafford, MN. They were blessed to be the parents of five children. They moved to a farm in rural Campbell, MN in 1952. Maxine worked alongside of Fritz, as the bookkeeper for the Campbell Fertilizer Plant, which he owned and operated. In 1968, she and Fritz began spending winters in Mesa, AZ, a pleasurable tradition which continued until 1999.

Mabel "Rise" Justice
Mabel Gladys Rudolf was born April 27, 1928 in Wishek, ND, the daughter of August and Maria (Meidinger) Rudolf. She grew up and was schooled in Wishek. After graduating from Wishek High School, Mabel attended Mary College at Bismarck, ND. She graduated with a degree in nursing in 1948.

On May 11, 1949 Mabel was united in marriage to Everett Rise. The couple was blessed with one son, Craig. Mabel worked as a nurse in Fargo, ND and at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. The family moved to Jamestown, ND where Mabel worked at a clinic and the Catholic hospital. In 1968 Everett was transferred to the post office in Alexandria, MN. Mabel began working at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital that was later merged with Douglas County Hospital. In 1988 Mabel retired from Douglas County Hospital.

Arla Krabbenhoft-Daugherty
Arla Muriel (Krabbenhoft, Fjoslien, Tracy) Daugherty died on December 2nd, 2013 in Pahrump, Nevada at the home of her daughter, Karen. Born July 6th, 1926 in Sabin, Minnesota, she graduated from Moorehead State University in 1948 with a degree in teaching. She went on to enjoy a long and happy career as a teacher and a life full of travel and adventure with her family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Carl and Raymond Krabbenhoft and husbands Bud Fjoslien, Floyd Tracy, and Thomas Daugherty. She is survived by her sister, Anita Grabowski of Reno, Nevada, children Karl Fjoslien (Mina) of Redondo Beach, California and Karen Thomas of Pahrump, Nevada, and granddaughter Meghan Thomas of Las Vegas, NV. Services will be held at Lion's Pride Park at 30200 Del Oro Rd just off of Hwy 18 and Rabbit Springs Rd in Lucerne Valley, California on February 1st, 20
