Gladys C. Walaker
Gladys Caroline (Gronbeck) Walaker of Leonard, ND passed away on June 13, 2013. She was born on January 13, 1920 to Arne and Josephine (Vangsness) Gronbeck. Gladys grew up on the family farm south of Leonard. On September 4, 1938 she married Ray E. Walaker at the home of her grandmother Elizabeth Vangsness in Sheldon, ND.

Gladys and Ray settled in Leonard where they raised three sons: Dennis, Wallace, Ray Jr., and daughter, Renae. At first, Ray and Gladys ran a cream station, purchasing cream and eggs from the farmers, and transporting them to Fairmont Creamery in Moorhead. Later, they ran a Standard Oil Bulk fuel business along with a small service station. Gladys frequently ran the station while Ray delivered fuel to farms in the area.
