Lois Carol Riedman
Lois Carol Riedman, 85, passed away peacefully, February 20, 2014, in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family. Lois was born July 30, 1928 in Marion, ND to Leonard and Elvira (Anderson) Olson and was raised on the family farm north of Litchville, ND. She attended grade school at Plainview, a one-room school situated on the Riedman land. She graduated from Litchville High School in 1947 and went on to attend the New York Hairstyling Academy in Fargo. After graduating, she worked as a hair stylist in Valley City. On January 29, 1956, Lois married Ralph Riedman, her long-time neighbor, and they made their home on the Riedman family farm. Ralph and Lois were parents to four children, Cathy, Connie, Dan, and Greg. Lois loved her role as a farm wife and partnered with Ralph as they raised their children to value the land and country living. Within a 2-mile radius of the farm, they lived amidst a whole community of family who shared day-to-day life and special occasions. Ralph passed away on February 18, 1976 at the age of 54. Lois continued to live on the farm until moving to Valley City in the fall of 1978.

Lois was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City, serving in many ways through her Circle and involvement with WELCA. She also enjoyed being a member of the Skandia Homemakers Club and the opportunity to get together with her neighbors once a month.

Joyce Ann Golden (ne Gehring), born January 25, 1958 in Camden NJ, died peacefully in her sleep February 10, 2014 in Fargo ND. Previously married to Steven M Golden of Runnemede, NJ and survived by her daughter Angelique King and son-in-law Allen King, their three children Sawyer, Riley and Flynn; all of Moorhead, MN. Also survived by many members of the Sacchetti and Gehring families of NJ. She was preceded in death by her son Steven M Gehring, her grandmother Carmela Sacchetti and her cousin Louis M Sacchetti. She attended Haddon Heights and Haddon Township High Schools in NJ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She was a volunteer, artist and an accomplished seamstress. In accordance with her wishes, she has been cremated and her remains will be laid at a private location in NJ and a celebration of her life will be held at that time. Ruth McKay
Ruth McKay, 72, formerly Jamestown and Bismarck, ND, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, ND.

Ruth Ann Bartkowski was born November 5, 1941, in Jamestown, ND, the second of five daughters born to August and Dorcas (Stockeland) Bartkowski. She attended school at Cogswell, ND, and graduated from Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Grand Forks in 1962. Ruth travelled extensively, working as a nurse in New York, Montana, Colorado, Iowa, before meeting her future husband, Leslie McKay, in Bloomfield, IA. The two were married in March 1973 in Lancaster, MO, where they then made their home in Bloomfield then Garner, IA. Les and Ruth moved to North Dakota in 1985, and Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown from 1986 until she retired in 2007. Ruth and Les were active volunteers at the Jamestown nursing homes, and they loved to travel and visited friends and family all over the United States and abroad. When Les died in 2010, Ruth made her home in Bismarck with daughter Emily's family where she was a very special grandma to grandson Flynn, 5.
