Jason C. LaFlair age 38 of Lake Park, MN died Saturday February 2, 2013 at his residence.

Jason Charles LaFlair was born on April 7, 1974. He grew up and attended school in Pequot Lakes, MN, graduating from Pequot Lakes High School in 1992. He attended Bemidji State University where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science. He moved to Audubon, MN and worked for SJ Rhombus of Detroit Lakes for a few years. He later worked for Community First Bank in Fargo and was currently working as a software engineer for Bell State Bank and Trust in Fargo, which he enjoyed very much.

James E. Walline, Sr.
James E. Walline, Sr., a dedicated and enthusiastic educator, father and husband, died January 30, 2013, in Buffalo, New York. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife Marjorie and their six children, in the days before he died. He had Parkinson's Disease.

A Minnesota native, Mr. Walline influenced thousands of students in the Western New York area during an New York education career that spanned more than three decades, primarily at Grand Island Senior High School, where he was Principal for 17 years (1976-1993). He was also Principal of Pembroke High School (1972-1976), and his last post was as Principal of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda (1993-1996). A biologist by training, he began his career as a biology teacher at Warren Junior High School in Massachusetts.

As costs grow, closing smaller Fargo elementaries, building new ones an option
FARGO - Big changes may be coming for the city’s public elementary schools, particularly on the north side. Vella K. Steckler
Vella K. Steckler, 87, Dilworth, MN, died on Monday, January 28, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Vella Kennedy was born on January 4, 1926, in East Grand Forks, ND, to Michael and Margaret (Kulseth) Kennedy. She grew up and graduated from high school there, and then graduated from the University of North Dakota, where she had been head cheerleader. Vella was a professional figure skater, performing with the Ice Follies. She married Erwin Steckler and they lived in Mandan, ND. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1971. Vella’s personality was larger than life; her family always appreciated her sparkling, happy presence.
