Richard Bruce Andersen
Richard Bruce Andersen, 53, of West Fargo, ND formerly of California died suddenly in his home March 22, 2013.
Richard was a special gift born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1959 to Bruce and Donna Andersen in La Puente, California. He was the third of three children and the only son. He attended Charter Oak High School in California. He served in the US Army from 1977-1980 and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 34 years. Although Richard lived mainly in California he moved to North Dakota in 2007. Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and driving motor cycle. He especially loved spending time with his family and dear friend Andrew Fernett. Rick had a sweet tooth and enjoyed eating Smarties, Reese's and Kit-Kats. He dreamed of meeting his new grandson Bryce, born January 24. He wished to visit the White House in Washington DC and Mount Rushmore in SD. He had a warm heart. He was a strong, proud man that loved to stay busy. His family will miss the way he joked around with them. He will always be remembered for being an awesome mechanic, a Number 1 man and best dad in the world.

Alvin L. Mohr
Alvin L. Mohr, Stillwater, Retired President of First National Bank of Fessenden, ND, passed away on April 6th at the Boutwells Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Alvin was born in Fessenden, ND, on September 11, 1916 to John and Ernestine Mohr. After attending North Dakota State University in Fargo, he worked in banks in Kensington and Vergas, Minnesota. He entered the service in November 1942 and was stationed in the field artillery at Fort Sill, OK, as an instructor and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Upon his return, he accepted a position at the First National Bank in Fessenden where he became president until his retirement. During this time, he also served on the board at the First National Bank in Drake, ND. He married Lila Foss in 1947 and raised two children in Fessenden. Alvin was very active in the community throughout his years, serving as president of the Kiwanis, Civic and Commerce and for the Fessenden Development Corporation. He also was involved in the City Council and county chairman for the Salvation Army. Alvin was commander of the Fessenden American Legion and has been a lifetime member. He served on the board for the First Lutheran Church for many years, and was also deacon and treasurer. Alvin continued to work in his Mohr Realty business for several years after his retirement. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with family and friends in Fessenden, Fargo and Palm Desert. Friends and family will remember him as having a great sense of humor, a warm smile and a gentle personality. Upon retirement, he and Lila moved to Fargo in 1987 and wintered in Palm Desert, CA. where they enjoyed many years with friends in a golfing community. In 2004, they moved to Stillwater, MN. and became members of St. Andrews Lutheran church in Mahtomedi. Alvin is survived by his wife, Lila, of 65 years, two children, Dr. Wayne (Barbara) of Green Bay, LuAnn (Mike) Olson of Lake Elmo, and five grandchildren; Dr. Andrew Mohr (Kirsten) of San Diego, Ben Mohr of Boston, and Kathryn Mohr of New York City, Tyler Olson of Minneapolis, and Lauren Olson of Des Moines, and one great grandchild, Max Parker Mohr, San Diego. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Fred, Dick, Herb, and two sisters, Lena Ehni, and Elsie Ring. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to either the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden, ND, St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi or Boutwells Care Center in Oak Park Heights. The family wishes to thank the staff at Boutwells Care Center for their outstanding care of Alvin. The service will be held at ST. ANDREW’S LUTHERAN CHURCH (900 Stillwater Rd.) on Friday, April 12, at 11:00am. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Monday morning. Arrangements with Bradshaw Funeral Home. 65

Alvin L. Mohr, Stillwater, Retired President of First National Bank of Fessenden, ND, passed away on April 6th at the Boutwells Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Michael "Mike" Hayen Sr.
Michael "Mike" Hayen Sr., 91, of Cogswell, ND, passed away April 5, 2013, at the Oakes Community Hospital.
Michael Nicholas, son of John and Justina (Harns) Hayen was born May 20, 1921 near Cogswell, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended rural school. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army, and served his country in Hawaii during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, Mike returned to the Cogswell area. In 1947, he married Margaret Bohnenkamp, and together they had five sons; William, Fred, Richard, Tim, and Michael Jr. Mike lived in the Cogswell area his entire life, where he farmed until retiring. He loved the land, and he loved animals, especially horses. In 2010, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes. Mike was a life long member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Cogswell.

James E. Nelson, 76, of Campbell,Calif. ,formerly of Fargo,ND passed away March 16,2013.
James was born on Sept. 28,1936 in Fargo,ND to Otto and Emma Nelson. He graduated from Concordia College with a degree in music. He taught at Oak Grove for several years before moving to Calif. where he continued to teach music,art and special education in the Los Gatos Union School District until retirement. He received a special award of being Teacher of the Year in Calif. He also was organist at the Church of Christ,Scientist for nearly 50 years.
