Shirley Mae Motschenbacher was born September 22, 1935 in Barnesville, MN to Lester and Alice (Everett) Motschenbacher. She attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School. She studied radiographic technology in Moorhead, MN after which she began her career as an X-Ray Technician at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead.

Timothy Kaim, age 62 of Watertown, SD died Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday Feb. 6 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City, ND with Rev. Dayne Zachrison officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery at Buffalo, ND later in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Timothy Fredrick Kaim was born on Dec. 23, 1951 the youngest of 4 children born to Conrad and Catherine Kaim. He was raised and educated in Buffalo, ND. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Valley City State College in 1973.

Jim Bartnick, 64, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Jim was born on May 28, 1949 to Orville and Ruby (Ostby) Bartnick in Veblen, SD. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Claire City, SD and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND. He attended school in rural Claire City and graduated from New Effington High School in 1967.

Luella Joyce Peterson was born November 25, 1919, in McHenry, the daughter of George and Joyce Peterson. Luella attended school in McHenry, ND, and graduated in 1938 from McHenry High School. She was baptized in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of McHenry in 1920, and was confirmed in 1934. Luella was an active church member throughout her entire life. She was gifted in all hand work and singing.

Mary Kay passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Kay DeJardine was born on October 28, 1941, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Melzark) DeJardine. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Shanley High School. Mary Kay later attended North Dakota State University. She worked in Minneapolis at Campbell Mithun before returning to Fargo in 1966. Mary Kay was united in marriage to Carlos “Gus” Nestler on September 5, 1964 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo where they raised their family.

Karen K. Harper, 73, of Leeds, ND, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Karen Kay Knutson was born February 13, 1940 at Leeds, ND to Dagfin and Lorraine (Halvorson) Knutson. She was raised on the farm South of York, ND and at the age of eleven the family moved to Penn, ND, then to Towner, ND where she graduated from High School in 1958. Karen then attended Bismarck Junior College and worked for an attorney in Towner for several years. She married Bobby Harper on September 13, 1963. The couple lived in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States. They were later divorced. Karen lived in Rugby for a time and later moved to Ceour d’ Alene, Idaho for seven years. She returned to the farm near York and worked at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. Karen cared for her mother for a number of years and moved to Wahpeton. After her mother’s death, Karen returned to Leeds.
