Elaine was the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle Pomeroy of Valley City, N.D. and a graduate of Valley City High School (1962) and the University of North Dakota (1966).

Joshua Todd Scheen was born on June 18, 1987 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Les and Vickie (Hogie) Scheen. He was raised in Carrington and graduated from New Rockford High School in 2006. Josh enlisted in the National Guard and served in Carrington 141th Engineering Battalion from 2006 to 2009. He worked as a concrete finisher and carpenter at Lindberg Brothers in Jamestown, ND.

Lucille Marjorie Nelson, 90, of Moorhead, MN, died January 1, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Lucille Marjorie Nelson was born on April 26, 1923, to Arthur and Alice (Erickson) Nelson on the family farm in Eagle Township, Richland County, ND. She graduated in 1941 from Christine High School as valedictorian of her class. She attended Burroughs calculator school and completed comptometer training. She worked in Minneapolis at Powers Department Store until 1949 when she moved to Los Angeles, CA. She was employed at Carnation Milk Company, Cummins Diesel and later at Atlantic Richfield (which was acquired by British Petroleum) in the accounting department, until retiring in 1985. In 2005, she moved back to this area to be near more extended family and friends and lived in an apartment at Eventide. She had been in the nursing home unit at Eventide since March 2010.

Robert J. “Nooks” Kapaun, 91 of Casselton, ND, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Robert was born on September 2, 1922 in Casselton to Joseph and Elizabeth (Hager) Kapaun. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton in 1941 and served in the US Navy from 1941-1945 on the USS Phelps Destroyer. He married Lorraine Nelson on January 29, 1943 in Casselton. After his discharge from the military, he worked in the heating and air conditioning business and started Cass County Heating and Air Conditioning which he ran for 45+ years.

Ronald A. Guttormson, 74, of Borup, MN, passed away at home on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Ronnie was born March 25, 1939 in Fargo, ND, to Elmer and Mabel (Ringstad) Guttormson. He grew up on the family farm near Georgetown, MN, and attended school at Middleton Country School and Hendrum Public School before graduating from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. Ronnie then continued his education at Moorhead State University while farming with his father and brother, Roger prior to farming on his own. He served in the Air National Guard. On August 15, 1959, Ronnie married LeeAnn Sivertson at Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley, MN. Together they lived and farmed in the Perley, Georgetown, Felton and Borup communities. He retired from farming in 2001. LeeAnn and Ronnie spent ten winters traveling and trap shooting in Las Vegas, NV, and Phoenix and Tucson AZ, where they met many new friends.

Born in Fargo to R.D. (Doug) and Lois (Wiseman) Cusick. Terry attended Carl Ben Eielson, Agassiz and Fargo South High. He worked in construction in CO with his uncle and cousin following high school. Terry received his AS degree from NDSCS in Auto Parts Management. He managed parts departments at Ford dealerships in Hawley, Jamestown, Park Rapids and Kenosha.

Tara Jane Daniel – Beall, 44, lost her four year battle against cancer on Friday, December 13, 2013 with her mother holding her hand. She was born December 2, 1969 at Williston, ND to parents Helen (Black) and Andrew Daniel; and was their only child.

She graduated from Hatton High School in 1988. She attended college at Detroit Lakes Technical College and Minnesota State University. She married Stacy Beall and they share a daughter Tasha Danielle Beall. She also has a second daughter, Tiana Kaye Coy.

Helen Hagen, 91, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013, surrounded by her family and the caring staff on second floor at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Helen Luella Clara Sonsteng was born on February 27, 1922 in Wolf Pointe, MT, the daughter of Arnold and Clara (Huseby) Sonsteng. Her mother passed away three days after she was born. Helen was raised by her great aunt, Helene Christiansen Hafstad in the Rollag, MN area. She received her schooling at District 14 country school near Rollag. In her early years, Helen worked in the Pelican Rapids area. Helen was united in marriage to Albin Hagen on June 1, 1941. They made their home in Moorhead for many years where they raised their family. There was always a little one in her lap, and treats in the cupboard. Helen also worked outside the home at de Lendrecies in Fargo, Dakota Hospital, Concordia Food Service, and for many years worked well into her 80’s with her family at FM Flooring. Her most favorite job was being mom - spending time with her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great grandchildren. She enjoyed all of her grandkids and great-grandkids, rocking and singing or yodeling to them, and always had an abundant supply of cookies.
