Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. James United Church of Christ with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.

Robert "Bob" Chrissis
Robert "Bob" Chrissis was born on September 11, 1925, to Andrew and Margaret (Erdman) Chrissis. He attended Dilworth, MN, public schools until his senior year, when he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII.

Bob served on the USS Halligan from 1943 until March, 1945. The Halligan was sunk by an enemy mine off the shore of Okinawa leaving over half of his 300 crew members dead, and Bob wounded. Bob received the Purple Heart from his hospital bed in Guam, from Admiral Chester Nimitz, Commander of the Pacific Fleet.

Karien L. Zimmerman
Karien L. Zimmerman, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Elim Rehab and Care Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her earthly and heavenly loved ones.

Karien was born on April 10, 1918, in Duluth, MN, to Raymond and Huldah Welsch. She spent her childhood in Duluth and graduated from Duluth State Teachers College (UMD) in July of 1939. Upon completion of college, she moved to Rothsay, MN, where she taught school for three years. It was in Rothsay where she met her future husband, Lester "Les" W. Zimmerman, and on April 25, 1941, they were married in Rothsay. For a period of time during WW II, she moved to several places around the country to accompany Les as he fulfilled his duties in the U.S. Army.

Annie Amb, 88, of Portland, ND, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND.

Annie was born October 27, 1925 to Nels and Jennie (Larson) Selid in rural McKenzie County, ND. She graduated from Watford City High School and then received her Registered Nurse degree from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. Annie married Alvin Amb in Pasadena, CA in 1947. They returned to Portland to farm and raise a family. Annie was nursing supervisor at Tri-County Nursing Home in Hatton, ND for several years.

Rose Hagel
Rose Hagel ,94, West Fargo, formerly of Rugby, North Dakota, died peacefully on February 13, 2014 at the Sheyenne Crossing Home in West Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by her family.

Rose was born to Sebastian and Barbara Young Burkhartsmeier on May 25, 1919 in Wellsburg, North Dakota. She was raised in the Harvey area and graduated from Harvey High School in 1937. She married Frank Hagel in Franklin Park, Illinois on October 24, 1942. After returning to North Dakota, they farmed in the Balta area before moving to Rugby, where they raised their family. She will be remembered for her many years of service at Lien's Jewelry in Rugby. She also did volunteer work at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. She enjoyed walking, baking, and caring for her children and grandchildren.
