Violet L. Nilson
Violet L. Nilson, 87, Maddock, ND, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Violet L. Martian was born September 22, 1925 rural Esmond, ND, to Anton and Anne (Hoffner) Martian. She was baptized at the Odessa Catholic Church. Violet attended North Fork rural grade school and graduated from the Esmond High School. Violet attended Minot Teachers College, receiving the Standard Teaching Certificate, and taught at the Arne Township and East Fork Schools. On November 4, 1946, Violet and Mandy Seville Nilson were married at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond. They farmed in Arne Township until July of 1980 when they moved into Maddock. She worked a number of years at the Grill in Maddock. Mandy Nilson passed away February 28, 1997.

Norman Arvid Nubson, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 12:03 a.m. in Devonshire, the Memory Care Unit of Touchmark at Harwood Groves in Fargo, ND.

Norman was born on July 3, 1928 to Nels and Mildred Nubson on a farm near Glenfield, ND, destined to have lifelong North Dakota ties. After moving with his family to Carrington, Norman worked jobs like pumping gas and fixing car tires, at times running the store without adult supervision. Dances on Saturday night were very special. High school graduation in 1947 represented passage into adulthood. From these early experiences, a lifetime commitment to integrity and service was formed.

William A. Nelson
William A. Nelson, 81, Moorhead, MN, died on Monday, February 11, 2013, in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo.

Bill was born on January 29, 1932, in Fargo, ND, to Erwin and Lulu (Falkingham) Nelson. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN, and then graduated from Moorhead State College. He served in the U.S. Army, and was in the U.S. Army Field Band. Bill married Elizabeth Hanssen on November 27, 1957, in Pelican Rapids, MN. Following his service, he taught in Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and Dilworth as well as at the Moorhead State Campus School. Later in his career, he served as the director of the North Central Council for School Television.
