Funeral Mass for Florence Margaret Deal, age 97, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Fr. Joe Vandeberg, Fr. Stanley Wieser and Fr. Mike VanSloun Celebrants. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be held Friday, January 24th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. The Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Home of Wheaton, Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.

Florence Margaret Marcus was born June 3, 1916 in Jewell, Iowa to Louise Olive Hanson and Daniel Otto Marcus. Her grandparents, the Hannsons and the Marcusons had immigrated to Iowa from Eidsvag, Norway. When arriving in the United States, the family shortened the names to Hanson and Marcus. At the age of nine, she and her family moved to a farm in the Dumont, Minnesota area.

Esther Lillian Close, 105, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. She was born to Elizabeth (Meyer) and Samuel Blume in Dunn County, Wisconsin, on February 16, 1908. She graduated from Menomonie (WI) High School, and enrolled in Dunn County Normal to prepare to become a teacher. She graduated from Normal in 1927, and the following fall, began teaching in Ridgeland, WI.

Esther was married to Ernest Close on November 16, 1929. Three children were born, a daughter who died in infancy; a daughter, Juan Marie (Jo); and a son, John Eugene, (Jack).

She enjoyed a thought-provoking book, a glass of good wine, a cup of tea, inspiring music and a brisk walk. She was a great encourager of anything her children, their spouses, grandchildren or great-grandchildren ventured to try. She was a loyal friend and had a witty sense of humor.

Louise Olson, 91, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Wyndmere, ND passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 21, at 2:00 PM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND with Rev. Harvey Henderson officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 pm at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Louise was born on December 2, 1922 in Fargo, ND to William and Fannie (Henderson) Johnson. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1940 and North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) with a bachelor's degree in home economics in 1944. She attended Iowa State College for four summers and received a master's degree in vocational education in 1952. On September 10, 1955, Louise married Milo Olson at the First Baptist Church in Fargo. They made their home on the Olson family farm in rural Wyndmere, ND. In retirement, the couple wintered for 18 years in Brownsville, TX.

Leo E Wittenberg born Oct 4th 1945 in Bismarck ND to Leo and Ruth Wittenberg, died peacefully at Solvay House Hospice Duluth MN on January 9th 2014 at the age of 68. He served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. After his discharge he married Frances Stevens Aug 12th 1967 in England. He was employed by Marconi Instruments in St Albans, England, before returning to the States in 1969. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone (US West) in Fargo, Grand Forks, and Duluth until his retirement in 1996. He is survived by wife Frances, daughter Elizabeth (Jeremy) Walton; grandchildren Richard, James, and Henry Walton; and son Matthew; grandchildren Ethan and Riley Wittenberg, brother Glenn Wittenberg, his wife Mary and their son Andrew; brother-in-law Richard Stevens. Leo requested that there be no funeral services. The family will have a reception at the Clubhouse at 2158 Miller Creek Drive, Sundby Road, Duluth on Wednesday 15th January from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Arrangements were made with Cremation Society of Minnesota. His cremains will be interred at the ND Veterans Cemeter
