Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 12 at 2PM in Faith Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5PM-7PM with a 7PM Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Donald Francis Mugan, age 68, of Fargo, N.D. died April 3, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family, after a two-year battle with ALS.

Don was born January 23, 1946 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to George F. Mugan and Marie M. (Domek) Mugan. After graduating from St. Mary's High School, he attended Emmetsburg Junior College and Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he earned his bachelor's degree in industrial arts.

Minerva Rosealine Franek of Fargo died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Rosewood on Broadway.

Minerva was born November 10, 1910 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Arthur and Rosealine Streed. She graduated from North Dakota Agriculture College (NDSU) with a degree in Physical Education in 1932. She taught Physical Education in the Fargo-Moorhead school system and was one of the first playground directors. She married Godfrey Joseph Franek June 29, 1935. He died September 1, 1991.

Jonathan Paul “Jon” Brantner
On Monday evening, March 31, 2014, Jonathan Paul “Jon” Brantner, went home to be with his Lord, following a prolonged illness. He was at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and was surrounded in the love of his wife, Renee, and other family.

Born on September 18, 1964, in North Dakota, Jon was the son of Jerry Brantner and June Warner Brantner of Fargo, North Dakota. Described as a “sweet and loving child” by his mother, Jon grew up in Harwood and attended school at West Fargo and Oak Grove Lutheran High School. While at Oak Grove he was involved in music as a member of the Choir and the Madrigal Singers, as well as sports, playing on the Basketball team and running Track. Jon loved to run, and participated in both the 800 meters and the mile. Upon graduation from High School in 1982, Jon continued his education at North Dakota State University, graduating from the School of Pharmacy in 1987.

Myrtle M. Sorkness, age 94, longtime resident of Twin Valley, MN, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls, MN.

Myrtle was born February 12, 1920, the daughter of Paul and Sophie (Flaten) Buchholz at International Falls, MN, where her father was a welder for Boise Cascade Paper Company. She graduated from Falls High School with the class of 1937. After graduation she worked in Minneapolis, MN, and then returned to International Falls, where she was employed as a secretary at the school.

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Buth
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Buth, 81, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Eventide Senior Living Community, Moorhead, MN. Jackie was born June 7, 1932, in Fargo, ND, to Russell and Etta (Cook) Noyes. She grew up in rural Sabin and graduated from Moorhead High School. On November 22, 1950, she married Harry Buth in Baker, MN. Together they lived in Wisconsin for a time before moving back to Sabin and raising their family. Jackie later worked in Moorhead Public Schools for several years before retiring. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping and traveling. She was very involved with the Sabin Lioness Club over the years and enjoyed her time with friends, but most of all loved spending her time with family. She will be dearly missed.

Jackie is survived by her children, Jeff (Barb) of Moorhead, Cindy (Paul) Linstad of Fargo, Ed (Madonna) of Bismarck, Pam (Tom) Czech of Little Falls; grandchildren, Alicia (Ryan) Joachim-Buth, Jenna (Shaun) Buth-Croes, Jayne (Mike) Baraky, Jennifer (Matt) Braun, Jonathan Linstad, Chrissy (Shane) Osborne, Sheena (Jesse) Klaudt, James Buth, Jada Czech, Kalli Czech; great-grandchildren, Jorja and Tesslyn Klaudt; five brothers and two sisters.

Clarence W. Erickson
Clarence Erickson was born prematurely on the family farm in Donnybrook, ND on March 19, 1923. He was nursed to health by his dedicated parents, Richard and Nellie (Hansen) Erickson. He was so tiny he fit in a shoe box. He received his education and graduated from Donnybrook High School in 1941.

Clarence joined the US Navy and was stationed at San Diego, CA, serving as highest AOM 3rd Class. He was honorably discharged on 5/2/1946.

Carol Patricia Gass
Carol Patricia Gass, 69, Bismarck, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Sanford Health in Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 5, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Adult Abused Resource Center or Pride, Inc.

Carol was born on August 8, 1944, to William and Beatrice (Scheiderbauer) Gass in St. Paul, Minnesota. She moved with her parents to Bismarck as a child and attended elementary grades at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit School. She graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 1962. She received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from North Dakota State University, Fargo, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Following her graduation, she attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Carol lived in Chicago for 20 years where she was an active volunteer with the Chicago Lyric Opera, Chicago Institute of Art, and participant in American Kennel Club shows. She was employed by Olivetti, IBM and Consultex before returning to Bismarck in the late 1980s when she entered the field of real estate and was a faithful caregiver to her mother until her mother’s death.
