Gordon Joseph Brant passed away peacefully in his sleep at Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN, on May 12, 2013. Gordon was 94.
Gordon was born in Fargo, ND, October 25, 1918, to Emil and Alma Brant. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1936. While in high school, he played on the varsity hockey team for three years; the team lost just once during that span and won the ND State Hockey Championship. Gordon also played American Legion baseball competing in the National Legion baseball tournament. After high school Gordon attended NDSU.

Bradley C. Hejtmanek, 59 of Mantador, ND passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mantador, ND with Fr. Peter Anderl officiating and burial in Calvary Cemetery, Mantador with military honors by the Hankinson American Legion Post #88 and the Mantador VFW Post # 9317 and the North Dakota National Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 pm all at the church, and Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Brad was born on April 14, 1954 in Breckenridge, MN, the son of Joseph & Marcella (Havlena) Hejtmanek. He attended school in Mantador and graduated from Hankinson in 1972. He earned his associate degree from Chaminade University, Honolulu, Hawaii in 1976.

Byron Fatland
Byron passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Villa Maria in Fargo surrounded by his family.
Byron was born on July 27, 1935, the son of Clarence and Borghild (Engh) Fatland in Fargo. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Byron proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 until his discharge in 1958. He returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Sylvia Stene on August 27, 1960 at East Marsh River Lutheran Church. They made their home in Billings, MT before moving back to Fargo in 1964. Byron worked for 32 years at Greyhound Bus. In 1991 he moved to Lisbon, ND where he made his home at North Dakota Veterans Home. He returned to Fargo in 2003 and has lived at Villa Maria since that time.

Lloyd C Kempf
Lloyd C. Kempf, 85, of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013. Lloyd was born March 6, 1928 in Ashley, ND to Michael and Lydia Kempf. Upon graduation from Bismarck High School he enlisted in the US Army and served with the 11th Airborne Division, 188th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Japan. Following his service he attended Bismarck Junior College, graduating in 1949. Lloyd married Janice Marquis on July 2, 1950. Lloyd and Jan moved to Denver where they lived while Lloyd attended Denver University and worked for Swift & Co. for 2 years. They returned to Bismarck in 1952 where Lloyd began his banking career as an Examiner with the ND Dept of Banking and went on to serve as President of Grant County State Bank in Carson, ND and then the Goose River Bank in Mayville, ND until his retirement in 1982. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Oakley National Bank, Buffalo, MN. Lloyd is survived by Jan, his wife of 62 years, two sons Greg, Jamie (LeAnn), two daughters Lori (Tom) Konradi and Lesa Kempf; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A private family service will be held in the memorial garden at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chandler, AZ. The 47-year-old mistakenly ran the 10K race, which started at 7 a.m. After crossing the finish line and realizing his mistake, he walked back to the starting line for the full marathon start at 8:15 a.m.
