Sandra Elaine Fjeld
Sandra Elaine Fjeld (Zimmerman) died Thursday, March 20th of complications from emphysema. Sandra was born September 10th, 1942 as the second of four children to Stanton and Doris Fjeld of Lake Park, Minnesota. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Concordia College 1964 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy following Naval Women's Officer School in Newport, RI. She served on active duty at NAS North Island, San Diego, California from 1964-1968, and in the Naval Reserve from 1968-1976. After earning a Masters degree in Counseling from Moorhead State University in 1976, Sandra began a life-long counseling career in various locations in Northern Minnesota, finally finding home and settling in Duluth.

Sandra was a past President of the Northland Vietnam Veteran's Association, and one of the founders of the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans-Duluth (MACV-D). She volunteered with the Duluth Police Reserves, the Civil Air Patrol, and at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. After retirement, Sandra moved to Bloomington, MN to be closer to family.
