Alan George Vick
The Funeral Service of Alan George Vick will be 10:30AM Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester officiated by Rev. Karna Hagen. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home in Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, gathering first at Assembly Area #4, with military graveside rites provided by Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad.
Mr. Vick, age 83 of Rochester, passed away on Thursday morning, December 13, 2012. He was born July 3, 1929 in Banks, North Dakota, to George Arthur and Anne Sundfor Vick. After graduating from Watford City (ND) High School, he attended North Dakota State University, where he earned a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1951 and was initiated into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Pi Tau Sigma National Honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity. He was then commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and entered flight training in Florida. On February 21, 1952, Alan married Patricia Ann Korum, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, in Lubbock, Texas. Alan served in the Air Force until 1955. He flew 21 missions over North Korea as a B-29 pilot, then transitioned to KC-97s after the Korean War. His assignments included postings in Texas, Kansas, and Japan. From 1955 to 1958, the couple lived in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona where Alan was an engineer with Motorola. They then moved to Fargo, where he earned a MS in Engineering Science from North Dakota State University. He was appointed a faculty member in the Engineering Department at the school. In 1962, Alan and Pat moved to Rochester. He was employed with IBM, first as an engineer and then in computer programming. The couple moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1965 and returned to Rochester in 1974. Alan retired from IBM in 1990. They again moved to Boulder and he taught computer science at Metropolitan College in Denver until 1992, when they returned to Rochester. Alan was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester, where he sang tenor in the choir for several years. He was a life member of the Elks, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. From 2002 until 2011, Alan and Pat spent their summers in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

During his developmental years he was raised in a foster home until his adoption on October 30, 1960 to James and Ardis Score of Dwight, ND. Don attended elementary school at Dwight and graduated from Wahpeton High School in May of 1975. While attending high school, Don was elected student body vice-president and served as the school mascot. He received the G.I. Sholey service award which was voted on by the senior class to that senior which had provided the most service to the school.

Rudolph "Rudy" Neumiller
Rudolph "Rudy" Neumiller was born on a farm near Box Elder, Montana, on June 26, 1917, to Christ Neumiller and Mathilda (Morlock) Neumiller. He died at the age of 95 on December 3, 2012, in Carrington, North Dakota.
His parents returned to North Dakota the same year Rudy was born, and farmed in the Heaton and Sykeston area. Rudy attended the Cottonwood School north of Heaton, ND. Rudy joined the Civil Conservation Corps in 1936, and worked near Troy, Idaho on a road building crew. He said that he once saw an entire boxcar of dynamite blown to create a tunnel. Rudy and Adeline Kurtz were married on November 9, 1944 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sykeston, ND, where they had both been confirmed. They first lived on a farmstead just north of Sykeston, and moved in 1949 to a farm west of Sykeston. They moved to Sykeston in 1980 and to Carrington in the fall of 2007.
