Wanda M. Johnson, age 101 of Turtle Lake, ND passed away peacefully on February 27, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor George Schuessler officiating. Interment will follow in the South St. Olaf Cemetery of rural Turtle Lake.

Richard Allen Herbranson
Richard Allen Herbranson, 61, Fargo, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Richard was born on January 11, 1952 at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead to Clarence Oceanus and Beatrice Lorraine (LaPash) Herbranson. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Olivet Lutheran Church. He grew up in Fargo and was a May 29, 1970 graduate from Fargo North High School. He enjoyed many nicknames throughout his life, “Ricky,” “Rick” and “HeBe.” He entered the Marine Corps on January 13, 1972. During the Vietnam War he was awarded the Rifle Expert and was recognized for his physical fitness numbers and times. He was honorably discharged from Camp Pendleton, CA on January 11, 1974 achieving the rank of Corporal. Richard married Renee Langer on July 10, 1981 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo.

Jewell Ishaug, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Stanley Jewell Ishaug was born July 26, 1923 in Pelican Rapids, MN, the son of Carl and Johanna (Stubstad) Ishaug. He was baptized and confirmed in the West North Immanuel Church. Jewell attended District #12 country school through the eighth grade. On March 21, 1948 Jewell was united in marriage to Betty Norma Stephenson at North Immanuel, after having dated for two years. He worked on the family dairy farm prior to taking over the operation until his retirement in 1985; however, he remained on the farm until they moved into Pelican Rapids in October of 1993.

LeMoyne R. Olson, 91, died February 25 at Parkside Lutheran Home in Lisbon, ND.

LeMoyne was born in Lisbon on August 9, 1921 to Richard and Augusta Olson. He attended school in Lisbon and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was 100% Swede and proud of it! LeMoyne married the love of his life, Margaret Peterson, on October 5, 1940. They had four children and enjoyed 72 years of marriage together. They lived and farmed for many years in rural Lisbon. They moved into Lisbon in 1980.

Sara G. Barstad, 103, of Ray, North Dakota died at the Tioga Long Term Care Center Friday evening, February 22, 2013. A Rosary service will be held Friday at 5 PM and her remains will be in repose at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ray, ND beginning at 4 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Bennie officiating. Sara G. Barstad was born January 22, 1910 to Joseph and Rose (Kiffmeyer) Daniel in Padua, MN. Her family moved to Ray, ND, in 1912 and farmed Northwest of Ray. Sara attended grade school at rural Lough School, her freshman year of high school at St. Agnes Academy in Kenmare, ND, and then transferred to and graduated from Ray High School in May 1929. In the fall of 1929 she attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND, and graduated in May 1930 with a secretarial degree. While attending college in Fargo she was a member of a women's intramural basketball team. She was proud of the fact that three of the four women on this team were from Ray and they were undefeated. After graduating from college she moved to Williston, ND, and worked for the Williams County Extension Agent for two years

Cecelia “Toots” Marion (Harles) Sundquist
Forman, ND: Cecelia “Toots” Marion (Harles) Sundquist was born October 15, 1923, to Michael and Anna Harles in Rutland Township, Sargent County. Toots grew up in the Rutland Township and attended Rutland Consolidated School. During WWII Toots worked at the Waldorf Paper Factory in St. Paul. She returned to the Rutland area and was a waitress for several years in the Rutland and Forman areas.

On December 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Morris Sundquist in Cogswell, ND. They moved to Bowmen Township where they lived for a short time before moving to a farmstead in Dunbar Township. There they farmed, raised cattle, chickens and pigs. Toots was a stay at home mom to their three boys. She was a hard worker and anyone who knew her saw this in her hands.

Orville C. Akre
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Orville Akre, just a few days after his 94th birthday. He passed away on February 20th, 2013. Orv is survived by his sister, Dorothy Brunsvold-Salinas CA, Dorothy’s children (Dianne, Rudy, Steve, Kim) and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Orv graduated from Fargo High School in 1938. He secured a job with Northwest Airlines, traveling the world and working in multiple locations, including Fargo, Seattle, Madison and the Philippines. In 1942 he married Dorothy Reiersgord who predeceased Orv. In 1943 he entered the Army and spent the bulk of his time in England, France and Germany. With his ability to quickly learn languages, he was of great assistance to the military during the war. After the war, he returned to Northwest Airlines and remained with them until he started his own travel business in Madison. In 1994, he returned to Fargo to care for his mother.
