John "Jerry" Lackmann
The memorial service for John "Jerry" Lackmann, 59, of Stewartville,MN., will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday (November 30, 2013) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville with Rev. Byron Meline officiating. Mr. Lackmann died on Friday (November 22, 2013) of natural causes at his home.

John Jerome Lackmann was born on May 23, 1954 in Moorhead,Mn. to Leonard and Patricia (Layton) Lackmann. He grew up in Moorhead, attended school there, graduating from Moorhead H.S. in 1972. He attended Moorhead Technical College receiving a culinary degree. Jerry was married on May 3, 1974 in Moorhead to Julie Engel. Julie died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident that same year. Jerry was employed as a chef in Fargo,MN. and his growing love of cooking led him to successfully manage a variety of fine restaurants, traveling to Montana and Florida and returning to Minnesota in the early 1980's. He was employed at the Kahler Hotel in Rochester and then was part of the team that opened John Barleycorne Restaurant in Rochester,MN., where he was a longtime employee, including kitchen and general manager. Jerry was married on February 14, 1987 in Rochester to Marcia Johnson. They made their home in Stewartville, where they raised their family. They were later divoriced. Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed people and time spent with friends and family. He loved to ride the highways and byways on his motorcycle and spent many hours at the "Hideout" in Hager City, boating, fishing and socializing. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, woodworking and hunting.
