Editorial: Take time to honor war dead
As sure as rain in May, Americans will go through a small measure of self-examination today as they observe Memorial Day in countless ways. But as usual in a war-weary nation, most of us will have packed up and traveled to lakes, mountains or seashore before today’s ceremonies honoring the nation’s war dead even begin.

Letter: Moorhead councilman appears lost

Coming Home: In face of progress, we can do better

Letter: Moorhead cleanup crews did excellent job
As a Moorhead resident, I am so grateful to the city of Moorhead cleanup crew. In one day last week, we had our garbage, yard waste, recycling and big stuff from the garage picked up. It was such a relief to see the boulevards empty all around town as the week progressed.

Letters: Tax plan creates a bleak future
As a college student, I was apprehensively waiting for details of Gov. Mark Dayton and legislators’ tax-increase agreement to emerge. College students have a stake in this debate also. Our interests are often forgotten in favor of current taxpayers, but we are the future business owners and wage earners who will suffer the long-term consequences of this taxation.

Sanchez takes a no-hitter into the ninth as Tigers top Twins
DETROIT – Add another near miss in this 2013 baseball season – this time it was Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez falling just short of a no-hitter. Sanchez’s bid was broken up with one out in the ninth inning Friday night when Minnesota’s Joe Mauer hit a clean single up the middle. That was the only hit the right-hander allowed in the Tigers’ 6-0 victory over the Twins. It was the fourth one-hitter of Sanchez’s career, to go along a no-hitter he threw as a rookie back in 2006.
