Elsbeth “Elsie” Hazel Sailer, 79, passed away at home under the care of hospice on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Fargo, North Dakota.

Elsie was born December 15, 1933 in Litchville, North Dakota, the daughter of Emil and Adelia (Kolb) Alber. She grew up on the family farm until she married Lawrence Sailer on May 28, 1953.

James F. Abrahamson
James F. Abrahamson, 88, Fargo, died January 10, 2013 at Manor Care Nursing Home. Born in Valley City he married Karen Knecht in 1943 and they had two daughters. He served in the army in WWII where he received the Soldier's Medal for saving four service men. He was post commander of the VFW and life time member of the American Legion. He was an engineer on the Northern Pacific Railroad for 35 years. He and Karen enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time with their grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters Diane LaMont, Mandan, Kathy Tiner-Sewell (Dan), San Francisco, CA: Grandchildren, Jill LaMont Goetz, , Mandan and Mike LaMont (Tracy), Fargo, four great grandchildren, and his sister Shirley Meyer, Valley City. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Karen, brother, Arleigh, grandson, Justin Tiner, and son-in-law Ken LaMont.

A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW (202 North Broadway) in Fargo from 11:0

Helen Siedschlag
Helen was born March 30, 1928 to Herman and Edith (Preston) Fischer in Diesem, North Dakota. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Diesem. She was united in marriage to Wendell Siedschlag on September 28, 1947 in LaMoure, ND. Helen loved music and sang with the Megatones, the Community Choir and Trinity Lutheran Church choir. She shared her faith by being involved with LWML and spent many years teaching Confirmation, Sunday school and VBS. Helen also loved quilting, spending time with her family and creating her beautiful Christmas Village.

Helen died on January 10, 2013 at her home near Berlin, surrounded by her loving family under hospice care. She was 84 years old.

Chris Behle, 105 of Hankinson, ND, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hankinson with Rev. Jo Cassidy-Maloney officiating. Burial will be in United Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Neal Nelson, Kelsey Evans, Dave Paulson, Mike King, Donald Buckhaus & Tam Griepentrog. Honorary pallbearers are: All Who Called Him Friend. Organist will be JoAnn Kuehl.

Christian William Behle was born October 24, 1907 to Henry Sr. and Johanette (Schuttler) Behle on a farm in Brightwood Township, rural Hankinson. He attended the country school there and was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hankinson. His dad passed away in 1914 and his mother in 1921 when he was a teenager. Chris, his brother Carl and sister Kathe established their own farm called the Frying Pan Farm located near Hankinson. They sold the farm in 1936. He also worked in Minneapolis at Minneapolis Moline & then for Hankinson Auto.

Everett Norman "Butch" Krantz
Everett Norman “Butch” Krantz, the son of the late Albert and Agnes (Anderson) Krantz, was born on November 10, 1924, at Devils Lake, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. “Butch” attended school and grew to manhood in the Karlstad community, graduating from Karlstad High School in 1943. He served with the U.S. Army from June of 1943 until February of 1946, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. On December 15, 1946, “Butch” was united in marriage to Goldie Oberg in Chicago, IL The couple resided at Halma and later moved to Karlstad where he worked for Bob Carlson Oil Co. delivering fuel oil. He also was a Karlstad School bus driver for 13 years. He began his employment at Sam Hodne’s hardware store and later worked for various owners of the hardware store. He also did yard work in the community. “Butch” was a life member (68 years) of the Karlstad American Legion Post and of the V.F.W. He was a Special Deputy for the Kittson Co. Sheriff’s Dept. in Karlstad. “Butch” played third base for the Karlstad Independent baseball team and coached the American Legion Team. After Goldie passed away September 11, 2008, “Butch” moved to the Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Karlstad for a year before entering the Karlstad Healthcare Center. He passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, on Thursday morning, January 10, 2013, at the age of 88 years and two months.

He is survived by 4 sons: Wayne (Joan), Randy (Karen), and Brent (Mary), all of Karlstad, and Bradley of Halma; 2 daughters: Kathy (Steve) Mercil of Strandquist and Kristen (Roy) Stewart of Lancaster, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Butch was preceded in death by his wife,. his parents, 3 brothers: John, Fred and James, and four sisters: Helen, Adeline, Theresia and Enid.

Arlan P. Haiby
Arlan Palmer Haiby, age 80, of Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Arlan was born to Alvin and Alma (Sanden) Haiby of rural Pelican Rapids on October 25, 1932, the second of five children. In 1935, the family moved to Blackduck, MN where they farmed and logged. Arlan served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956. After being discharged he hauled gravel for the construction of I-94. In the fall of 1958, he hauled Fords as a car transport driver for K.W. McKee and retired in 1998 from Allied Auto.

Katherine "Kathy" J. Pingree, age 73, of rural Georgetown, MN, died Monday, January 7, 2013, in her home under the able care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Katherine Joyce Albert was born August 16, 1939, at Erie, ND, to Walter and Lucile (Brix) Albert. Katherine graduated from the Erie Public School in 1957. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND, and worked as a bookkeeper at Northwestern Supply in Moorhead, MN, for 4 years. She later worked as a bookkeeper at the Perley Farmers Cooperative Elevator from 1973 to 1997.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton with Father Boniface Muggli, O.S.B. and Abbot Brian Wangler, O.S.B. con-celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation for Mary will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a prayer service being held at 8:00 p.m.

Ron Radermacher, 76, Casselton, ND died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald William Radermacher was born Nov. 22, 1936 in Fargo, ND to William and Grace (Jendro) Radermacher. He grew up on the family farm near Casselton and graduated from Lincoln High School, Casselton. Ron married Carol Zick on June 24, 1963 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton. They made their home on a farm north of Casselton where they farmed for many years. In 1993, they moved into Casselton.

Rev. Orland Sloat, 80, West Fargo, ND, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 in his home.

Orland Samuel Sloat was born June 23, 1932 in Gettysburg, SD. He graduated high school in Gettysburg, attended South Dakota State in Brookings, and seminary at Garrett Biblical Institute. In 1957, he married Lyla Melloon. He served as a United Methodist Pastor in several communities in NE South Dakota. He retired in 1994 and moved to Fargo/West Fargo, ND area. On June 24, 2000, he married Edith Lockwood in West Fargo.
