Leo Thomson
Leo Thomson, age 88, of Barnesville, MN, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo surrounded by his family.
Leo M. Thomson was born on August 29, 1924, the son of Theodore and Mary (Pesheck) Thomson, in Roberts Township, Wilkin County, MN. He grew up in this area and received his education in Wilkin County Schools. At an early age he began farming with his father until entering the service. Leo proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during WWII where he qualified at a Sharp Shooter with the M I rifle. He served on the Cruiser USS Mobile CL 63 in the occupation of Japan - one of the first ships to enter the Japanese Harbor in Southern Kyushu.

Thomas L. Blair
Thomas L. Blair, 64, West Fargo, ND, died Friday, February 1, 2013 in Sanford Health, Palliative Care after a courageous battle with cancer.
Thomas Leslie Blair was born September 18, 1948 in Fargo, ND to Harry and Lucille (Nowak) Blair. He grew up in Fargo and graduated in 1966 as a member of North High School’s first graduating class. He worked in Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN for a short time before returning to Fargo. Tom joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After his military service, he became a partner in the Rib-Rack Bar and Grill in Comstock, MN. He married Andrea Rehder on September 27, 1975, in the Comstock Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Fargo, where Tom worked for both the Thompson, and Pierce roofing companies. In the 1980s he began working for Fargo Truss Systems, where he continued to work until June of 2012. Andrea died in February of that year.

Vella K. Steckler, 87, Dilworth, MN, died on Monday, January 28, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Vella Kennedy was born on January 4, 1926, in East Grand Forks, ND, to Michael and Margaret (Kulseth) Kennedy. She grew up and graduated from high school there, and then graduated from the University of North Dakota, where she had been head cheerleader. Vella was a professional figure skater, performing with the Ice Follies. She married Erwin Steckler and they lived in Mandan, ND. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1971. Luci was born June 17, 1952 at the Ada Hospital, the fifth child of Gerard and Judy (Barrett) Spaeth. She graduated from Ada High School in 1970. Luci completed a science degree at Bemidji State College and a Nursing Degree at St. Lukes School of Nursing. On June 6, 1980 she began her employment at St. Lukes as a cardiac nurse and continued working for now Sanford (Day Unit), until her illness prevented it in October, 2012
