Gerald “Jerry” Hamstad
Gerald “Jerry” Hamstad, 75, of Mesa, AZ., passed away December 21, 2013. Jerry was born October 12,1938, in Grandin, North Dakota, the son of Hjalmer and Clarice Hamstad. He graduated from Hendrum High School in Minnesota in 1956. He graduated from Mayville State Teachers College, Mayville, North Dakota in 1960. He taught school in North Dakota for two years prior to relocating to Lompoc, CA. He married Marcy Anderson in 1963.

Jerry and Marcy have 2 children; Jeff from Colorado Springs, CO. and Kelly from Clovis, CA. Jeff is married to Barbara and has 2 children, Jase, 18 and Megan, 16. Kelly has a son, Nash, who is 9. Jerry has a brother, Harlan, who resides with his wife Janice in Alexandria, MN.

Stephen Paul Munn
Stephen Paul Munn was born on March 3, 1951 in Fargo, ND, the son of Gerald and Mary (Winchell) Munn. He graduated from Fargo South High school in 1969 and continued his education at Detroit Lakes Area Vocational School graduating from the Sales and Marketing program. Steve married Elaine Soltess on September 22, 1973 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Together they had three sons Jason, Shon, and Michael.

Steve had worked in the HVAC industry since he was 18 years old. He started by helping his father and then worked throughout Minnesota. He also worked in Fargo and then moved to Bismarck, ND where he lived for 18 years before moving to Alexandria, MN in 1999. Steve was very proud of his work in the industry and he was especially grateful for his employment with Ellingson Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical for the last 14 years. He enjoyed his time with Pat Ellingson and his co-workers. Steve was a loyal Viking and Twins fan. He and his wife loved Minnesota's outdoor lifestyle and enjoyed everything it had to offer to the fullest. He liked to ride his Harley, go fishing and boating with his wife and golfing with his buddies, sons and grandson. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and larger than life smile. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John "Jack" Olson
John "Jack" Olson, 86, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 5:30 PM Prayer Vigil at St. John's Catholic Church. There also will be visitation one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton, at a later date. Military Honors provided by Wahpeton Military Honors and North Dakota Military Group. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Jack was born June 17, 1927 at Breckenridge, MN, the son of Melvin and Anna (Connelly) Olson. He graduated from Wahpeton High School and served in the US Navy. After the service he returned to Wahpeton and attended Bradley University, Peoria, IL, in watchmaking. He returned to Wahpeton and went into business with his father at Olson Jewelers. Jack was united in marriage to Patricia Stephens on Oct. 9, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Breckenridge, MN. The family resided in Wahpeton where Jack owned and managed Olson Jewelers. His son Ed later started working with Jack, for the third generation of Olsons operating the business. Pat passed away Nov. 29, 2010. Jack continued living in Wahpeton, moving to Siena Court in 2012.

Jeanne Heidi Roman
Jeanne Heidi Roman was called to her eternal home on December 16th, 2013 after a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jeanne was born September 18th 1962 to Marlyn and Joanne Avenson in Park Rapids, MN. September 18th was also her father's birthday. She grew up there and graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1981. Jeanne was very involved in sports as a Diver and Golfer. She was also involved in her church home at that time, St. John's Lutheran. She attended Moorhead State University for two years, where she met her husband Marcus. They moved down to the twin cities where Marcus was employed, and Jeanne finished her college education at Concordia St. Paul. Jeanne received a Bachelor's degree in History. While her degree was in History, Jeanne always was good with numbers. For most of her employment she was in accounting and finance. She was a true "chip off the old block", as her father Marlyn spent his career in Insurance and Banking.

Joyce Hanson
Joyce Olivia Hanson, 84, of Mayville, ND, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville.

She was born on January 10, 1929 to Albert and Helma (Heskin) Klath on the Klath family farm located in Steele County, West of Portland, ND. Joyce was a busy child and at a very young age she and her younger brother, Orien were sent to country school with their two older sisters, Eleanor and Agnes. It was nice for "MA" not so for the teacher as Joyce had a great hit playing softball, threw her softball bat and broke her teacher's nose.

Jeffrey Dale Torreson
Jeffrey Dale Torreson, 45, Fargo, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Sanford Palliative Care. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, at 1:00 pm at Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor, ND.

Jeff was born August 21, 1968 in Fargo, to Dale and Luanna (Odegard) Torreson. He grew up and attended school in Milnor, ND. He also attended NDSCS, Wahpeton, NDSU, Fargo and received a degree at Moorhead Technical College, Moorhead, MN. With a passion for computer technology, Jeff held various positions in North Dakota, Minnesota and Montana, before finally settling in Fargo. He was currently employed by IAIA (International Association for Impact Assessment) in Fargo as a Web Developer. He loved his position with IAIA and the opportunites it gave him, not only for technology advances but for its travel. He also was blessed to work with many warm and compassionate souls. Jeff had a passion for photography and was grateful for the opportunity to photograph many beautiful places in Switzerland, Ghana, Mexico, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Eldon C. Larson
Eldon C. Larson, 83, Fargo, ND, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Elim Home, Fargo. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Olivet Lutheran, Fargo, with visitation Monday, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Eldon was born August 22, 1930 at Fargo, ND, the son of Clifford and Isabelle (Tolstad) Larson. He attended grade school in Kindred, ND, and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948. He attended NDSCS. He married Catherine Crogan on November 24, 1956 at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND. Eldon farmed for 33 years in rural Wahpeton. The couple moved into Wahpeton, ND in 1979 and retired from farming in 1987; moving to Fargo in 1998. They wintered in Arizona for 28 winters and summered for many years at the lakes in Minnesota.

Duane Silseth
Duane Louis Silseth was born on January 2, 1944 in Britton, SD to Orvis and Angeline (Slaby) Silseth and grew up on the family farm near Rutland, ND. He graduated from Havana High School in 1961 and then attended college at University of ND in Ellendale, ND where he played baseball and earned a teaching degree. He received his Masters Degree from NDSU, Fargo, ND in 1970.

Duane married Pamela Johnson on June 19, 1965 and together they raised three children. They lived in Rolla, ND from 1965-1968 where he taught and coached. In 1968 they moved to Arthur, ND where he was principal for 2 years before becoming the Superintendent for 11 years. During that time Duane also coached football and was on the Board of Directors of the North Dakota High School Activities Association and served on many organizations. The family moved to Hunter in 1970 where they made their home until moving to Fargo in 1990. From 1981-1995 Duane left education and did work with Vocational Rehab and also some Sales. In 1996 he found himself back in education with the Cass Valley North School district as elementary principal. In 1997 the Cass Valley North and Dakota school districts consolidated and formed Northern Cass School district where he would be the elementary principal until his retirement in 2006. He also operated a small cleaning business for many years.

Francis "Tex" Gludt
Francis "Tex" Gludt, 87, West Fargo, ND, passed on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sheyenne Crossings assisted by Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Tex was born on July 29, 1926 in Harvey, ND to George and Marie (Fronk) Gludt. He graduated high school in Harvey and served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He married Phyllis Borg in Stanley ND, 1954. Tex worked for Northwestern Bell in Harvey, Watford City, Williston and Fargo ND. He retired after 40 years as a Safety Supervisor for ND and Eastern MN.

Virginia M. Benning
Virginia M. Benning, 89, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Tuesday, December 3 at Concordia Health and Rehab in Bella Vista. She was born on December 3, 1924 to Henry and Marie Orth and grew up on a farm outside Stoneville, South Dakota.

After moving to Minneapolis she attended Business College, and met and married George Benning. They ventured north to Moorhead, Minnesota where they raised three sons. They retired to Bella Vista in 1996. She enjoyed golf and playing bridge, and was a member of United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista. Her husband preceded her in death.
