Mervin J. Gunderson
A service of celebration for the life of Mervin Gunderson was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Mesa, AZ, Tuesday, May 21 at 11:00 am. Mervin died May 12, 2013.

Mervin was born the third child to Melvin and Johanna (Lee) Gunderson, May 14, 1925. His brother Rev. Olando Gunderson, sisters Delores Jasper and Grace Larson preceded him in death. He is survived by sister, Alice Podzorski of Mesa, AZ as well as nieces and nephews Candace, David, Daniel, Patricia, Nancy, Raymond and Dawn. Mervin’s early years were lived at Wolf Point, Montana until the family moved back to Melvin’s home area near Bejou, Minnesota. Mervin married Lila Hegg in 1952. She survives him. He farmed at Bejou and later was County Assessor for Mahnomen County, MN. He and Lila moved to Breckenridge, MN where he was Wilkin County Assessor until his retirement.

Bakke becomes first-ever state girls tennis champion from Bismarck St. Mary's
GRAND FORKS – Bismarck St. Mary’s has a state girls tennis champion for the first time ever. Caitlin Bakke topped Fargo South’s Karen Moe 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday afternoon at Choice Health and Fitness to win the North Dakota state singles title. It was a reversal of last year’s final, in which Moe topped Bakke in three sets.
