BISMARCK — North Dakota on Friday moved closer to adopting what would be the most restrictive abortion laws in the country, with lawmakers sending the Republican governor measures that could set the state up for a costly legal battle over the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized the procedure.

Roger Lee Peterson, 58, Jamestown, passed on to his eternal home from Huntington's disease on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo.
Roger Peterson, son of Einer "Pete" and Delores (Neva) Peterson, was born November 20, 1954 at Jamestown. The family resided in Wimbledon until 1959 when they relocated to Rolla. In 1962 the family moved to Fessenden where Roger graduated from Fessenden High School in 1972.

Stanley M. Lund, 94, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Bowdon, Minot and West Fargo, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Grand Arbor Retirement Home in Alexandria.
Stanley Lund was born June 10, 1918 to Peter and Johanne (Madsen) Lund who came to the United States from Denmark in 1907. Stanley was born on the family farm northeast of Bowdon where he was raised and educated. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bowdon Lutheran Church and his early years were spent helping his parents on the farm and doing odd jobs throughout the Bowdon community.

LaVonne A. Hagen, 76, of rural Cathay, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
LaVonne Ratzak, daughter of Alvin and Edna (Dablow) Ratzak, was born September 23, 1936 at New Rockford. She grew up in the rural Fessenden and Cathay areas and attended Fessenden Public School, graduating in 1954. She then worked at the FSA office in Fessenden for two years.

Imogene 'Jeanie' Dockter, 87, of Hurdsfield, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Jeanie Stark was born to Walter and Rosie (Miller) Stark in Vashti, North Dakota on July 5th 1925. The family lived south of Goodrich where she road horse 3 ½ miles to attend country school. In 1938 the family moved north of Tuttle.

Chester Reiten
Chester Reiten, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, while holding his wife’s hand, in a Minot assisted living facility.
Chester Maynard Reiten was born Nov. 14, 1923, at Hastings, North Dakota in Barnes County, to Lars and Carrie (Smedshammer) Reiten. He was raised on a farm and graduated from Hastings High School in 1941. He started college that fall at North Dakota Agricultural College, now North Dakota State University in Fargo. During World War II, Chet enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 7, 1943, serving as an Ensign and Commanding Officer of a Landing Craft Infantry Ship (LCI ) in the U.S. Navy. Chester was in the Pacific Theatre where the U.S. was preparing to invade Japan and the war ended. He received an Honorable Discharge in July of 1946.

He then worked for Hoganson Construction building grain elevators in Garrison and St. Thomas, ND, and later Biggs, OR before returning to Hamberg in the fall of 1942.
