Verna Marie Kiefer
Verna Marie Kiefer was born on March 13, 1921 at Lake City, SD the daughter of Mike and Louisa (Tscherne) Janisch. She grew up on a farm Southeast of Lake City. Verna attended Lake City High School graduating in 1940. On January 2, 1941 Verna was united in marriage to George “Pete” Kiefer. They lived on a farm near Geneseo, ND for 2 years and then moved to Cayuga in 1946. She worked for Sargent County Home Health as an aide and also worked for International Multi Foods in Forman, ND. In December of 2009 they moved to the Beverly Ann Assisted Living Center in Lisbon, ND.

Verna enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, bowling, traveling and was an avid walker. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Cayuga Hall Auxiliary, was a founding member of the Cayuga 61’ers Homemakers Club.
