Andrew Lundon Jr. “Drew”, age 4 months of Waubun, MN, died at Mahnomen Health Center on April 30, 2013.
Andrew William Lundon Jr., the son of Andrew Lundon Sr. and Cady Bellanger, was born on December 18, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He spent much of his life traveling between his home in Waubun and Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Although Drew was only with his family for a few short months his parents, grandparents, all those who loved him truly cherished each moment. They spent many hours cuddling, giving hugs, and spending precious time together. He was just beginning to share smiles and coo’s, especially while getting his tiny toes massaged. Drew was a precious gift and will forever be in the hearts of his family.

Alton Bendickson
Alton Bendickson, 63, Bejou, MN, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Veteran Administration Health Care Systems in Fargo, ND, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Alton Keith Bendickson was born March 24, 1950, in Mahnomen, MN, the son of Bertram and Albertha (TerWisscha) Bendickson. He grew up and attended grade school in Bejou. Alton graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1968. In 1969, he entered the US Army. After his honorable discharge in 1971, Alton worked as a police officer in the cities of Fertile and Mahnomen before becoming a deputy for the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office. In the early 1980's, he was employed at American Crystal Sugar and then for Roger Wang in his plumbing and heating business. Most recently, Alton worked for Stenerson Home Improvement of Moorhead for 12 years, and was also employed part-time at Hector Airport as a security guard. Alton continued to work both jobs until his failing health forced him into retirement. His optimistic attitude was an inspiration to all.

Jeannine Hoseth, age 78, of Twin Valley, MN died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Jeannine Carol Hinkley was born in Durand, WI on May 23, 1934 to Orville and Caroline (Kees) Hinkley. She graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul, MN and in 1952 she attended nurses’ training in Minneapolis, MN. Jeannine was united in marriage to Sherman Hoseth on June 5, 1954 in St. Paul, at her parents’ home. They spent their first winter of marriage in Phoenix, AZ with her grandmother. Sherman and Jeannine moved to the farm by Twin Valley in the spring of 1955, where they have resided for 59 years. Jeannine and Sherman enjoyed traveling and visiting family in Canada and later grandchildren in Canada, Europe, Mexico, and various states. They spent the past 20 winters in their home in San Juan, TX.

Orell Mesker, 83, of Ulen, MN died Thursday, March 25, 2013 in Sanford Health Systems, Fargo, ND.
Orell Lloyd Mesker, son of Lloyd and Anna (Orwald) Mesker, was born June 6, 1929 in the Twin Valley-Syre, MN area. He attended country school in the area and worked on the family farm. Orell worked on various farms until he moved to Portland, OR. He also spent time the Montana mountains cutting pulp. In 1957, he returned to MN and was employed at the Magnus Wefald farms near Hawley, MN until 1970 when he started working at the Felton Elevator. On January 28, 1989 Orell was united in marriage to Carol (Kellen) Rowland. He moved to Ulen and retired from the Felton Elevator in 1992. Orell was a talented metal worker making beautiful metal crafts and was a great handyman who loved to help his friends and neighbors.

He collected his blanket and a finisher’s medal, then headed to a bus about 300 yards from the finish line to put on long pants.
