David Keehn
David Keehn, 66, Wahpeton, ND, passed away, Monday, December 31, 2012 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, MN. The Funeral Memorial Service will be Friday, January 4, 10:30 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev Jule' Ballinger officiating. There will be sharing with the family Thursday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Bethel Lutheran Church and one hour before the service on Friday. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.

David was born June 27, 1946, at Pierre, SD, the son of Gerald L. and Irene L. (Damsgaard) Keehn. He grew up in various communities in the US and abroad as his father was employed by the US Government in conservation and Indian Affairs. David graduated from high school at Phillip, SD. He received his undergraduate degree at Dickinson State University and worked at Belcourt for seven years where he obtained his masters degree at UND. During this time he married MaryAnn Donahue at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. They moved to Wahpeton where David started his career at Wahpeton Indian School, later the Circle of Nations. He held several positions from licensed counselor to principal, becoming the CEO of Circle of Nations in 2001. Circle of Nations School received several prestigious awards under David's tenure, including the Green Ribbon School Award and Gold Healthier School Award, both in 2012. On June 12, 1988 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Herrick Berg, they have continued to reside in Wahpeton.

Gloria O. Akvik, 85, Fargo, ND, formerly Walcott, ND, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Bethany Homes, Fargo. The Funeral Services will be 2;00 PM, Thursday, January 3, at Richland Lutheran Church, Rural Walcott, ND, with Rev. Roger Reinhart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Gloria Orrine Landsem was born on February 4, 1927, to Martin and Inga (Berg) Landsem in rural Walcott, ND. She grew up and attended school in Eagle Township south of Christine, ND. After her schooling, the family moved to Moorhead, MN and Gloria worked at the Red River Hatchery.

June O. Johnson, 91, Fargo, ND died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

June Olive Isackson was born Oct. 14, 1921 in Wahpeton, ND to Henning and Borghild (Bakken) Isackson. She attended school in Wahpeton and Nansen Township. June married Rueben O. Johnson on Sept. 15, 1940 in Bethany Lutheran Church rural Abercrombie, ND. They lived in Wahpeton, ND until 1944 when Rueben went into the Army. June and children, Bruce and Judy, lived with her parents on their farm in Nansen Township until he returned home in 1945. June worked with her husband on their farm near Colfax, ND until 1971 when they moved to West Fargo, ND. She worked with Rueben in the insurance business in West Fargo. She taught Sunday school, was ladies aid secretary/treasurer, and was a member of the altar guild and church choir at Galchutt Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Galchutt Homemakers Club. She was presently a member of Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.
