Donna Marie Russell
Russell

Donna Marie Russell, Omaha, went home to be with Jesus after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born, raised, educated, worked, and resided in Fargo, ND for 55 years. She moved to Omaha in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Eleanor; sister Darlene; two aunts and an uncle; and several grandbabies she never got to hold but are with her now. She is survived by a son, Michael; daughters, Susan (Jo) and Shannon (Michael). She also had two grandsons, Rick and Alex and three granddaughters, Mariah, Gabriella, and Selah, whom she loved beyond measure! She is also survived by her brothers, Dave (Ginny) and Dan (Diane); and her aunt Rose. Her faith, family and friends were the most important things to her. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, listening to Casting Crowns, reading, GW Boutique and shoes. She was so brave and so strong for so long. She was told in mid-November that she had at most three weeks to live. She looked that doctor in the eyes and stated, "God will decide when my time here is up. No doctor is going to tell me when I am going to die." She was right. She lived exactly 21 weeks after getting that devastating news. She was a true pro-life hero! She believed in the intrinsic value of each and every human life. It was sad that she often wasn't treated with the same value that she believed everyone has. A special thanks to all her caregivers over the past 18 months. She appreciated you so very much. A Celebration of her Life will be held Thursday, April 17 at 10am at Roeder Mortuary. Please wear royal blue if you can. ROEDER MORTUARY - 108th St. Chapel 2727 North 108th St. 402-496-9000

Peggy Ann Laney
Peggy Ann Laney, 63, passed away March 29th, 2014, at her home in Seattle, surrounded by loving family.

Incredibly witty and well loved, Peggy was born August 22nd, 1950 in Fargo. She attended Fargo Public Schools and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1968. Her main objective in high school, besides graduating, was car hopping with her twin sister Paula at the local A&W and watching over their little brother Dave. After high school she began to work for the Fargo Answering Service. In 1971 she married Steve Laney and later became the most loving mother of two children, Justin and Kara. Over the next several years Peggy worked in the family business as bookkeeper for L&L Plumbing and Eagan Plumbing. During their time in Williston, ND, she and her family enjoyed the RV lifestyle while supporting their son in his Motocross interests. In 1988, a few years after the family moved to Eagan, MN, she began her career at US West in Customer Service, where she quickly worked her way up to a manager position as a Customer Service Trainer. Her fondest memories of this time included coffee with her colleagues prior to starting work every morning. In 1999, with her children graduated from college, she and Steve made their retirement dreams come true by moving into their lake home in Detroit Lakes, MN, while spending winters in Scottsdale AZ. Summers were spent with her sister Paula in the cabin next door sunbathing, drinking coffee, putting together puzzles, and eating popcorn, with many a weekend visit from her children to soak up the cabin life. In 2008, her ultimate dream came true and she became a grandmother for the first time. This quickly became her loving obsession and in the next few years she was blessed with two more grandchildren. So passionate in this new role, she and Steve followed their daughter Kara out to Seattle in 2011 to insert themselves more fully into the grandparenting lifestyle. It was during this time she was diagnosed with cancer, making the next 2¼ years especially precious. Peggy lived the last years of her life, as she did her whole life, with an unmatched sense of humor, grace, and astounding strength. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring sister, loyal friend, and doting grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Rusness and beloved twin sister Paula Parmer. She is survived by her husband Steve, son Justin (Misty) Laney and their children James and Andrew, Maple Grove, MN, daughter Kara (Sebastian) Petry and their son Max, Seattle, WA, her brother Dave (Diane) Rusness, Fargo, and many nephews and nieces. There will be a celebration of life event sometime this summer in Fargo, details forthcoming, for information please contact Kara at seattlesusie2002@yahoo.com. Donations in Peggy’s loving memory can be made to: SightLife, 221 Yale Ave N, STE 450, Seattle, WA 981
