Raymond "Ray" Zent
Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond "Ray" Zent, 75, of Mott, will be Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. Charles Zins will officiate and burial will follow at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday morning at the church. A Rosary and Wake service will be on Sunday evening at the Church at 7:00 p.m.

Raymond Francis Zent, the son of Raphael and Mary Renner Zent, was born on May 27, 1938 on his parents' farm in Cedar Butte Township south of Mott. Ray began his elementary education in a single-room school house at Cedar Butte #2 and finished his primary years at Lemmon Public School. Ray attended high school at the Assumption Abbey in Richardton, N.D. and then enrolled at North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo, N.D. He was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. On May 21, 1961, he graduated from the newly named North Dakota State University of Agriculture and Applied Science with a degree in Agricultural Mechanization. While attending college and for a short time after graduation, Ray worked for John Deere Corporation in Fargo. This was the beginning of his love of John Deere equipment.

Charles "Chuck" Martinson, 79, of Barnesville, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Vibra Hospital in Fargo with his family by his side.

Charles Robert Martinson was born on July 27, 1934 to Gilbert and Minnie (Skriden) in Rothsay, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. He attended school in Rothsay and graduated in 1951.

Shirley Peterson
Shirley Peterson, 86, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her home in Jamestown.

Shirley was born on November 5, 1927, in Wilkin County, MN, the daughter of Kenneth and Rose (Baasgard) Peake. The family moved to Fargo, ND in 1929 and Shirley graduated from high school in 1945. On December 27, 1946, she married Marvin Peterson in Fargo. They made their home in Jamestown for over 50 years. Shirley enjoyed gardening and later worked for the North Dakota State Hospital as an admissions clerk and a floor tech. Her past time was collecting antiques, especially dishes.

Peter Lloyd Balkan
MISSION, TX.- Peter Lloyd Balkan, 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Mission, Texas. Mr. Balkan was born on October 24, 1927 he married Sylvia (Locken) Balkan on August 26, 1950.

Mr. Balkan worked as a Civil Engineer for U.S Soil Conservation Service and retired in 1976 to Lake Maud, Minnesota and to South Padre Island, Texas and he settled in Mission, Texas.

Arland B Workin
Arland B. Workin, 80, Fargo, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a long illness.

Arland was born to Ben and Alma (Olstad) Workin in Galesburg, North Dakota on May 25, 1933. He attended school in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School. After graduation Arland served in the U.S. Army for two years where he was a heavy crane operator. He was united in marriage to Marlys Kringen on June 26, 1954 in Moorhead, MN.
