Arvid Anderson
Arvid Anderson, age 80, passed away December 9, 2013, at the Hawley Senior Living, Hawley, MN. Arvid was born December 27, 1932, to Conrad and Alice Anderson and attended school in Hawley. His military service in the U.S. Army included spending time in Korea. Arvid then returned to Hawley and married Adeline Spillum on April 6, 1957. Together they raised four children. He worked for T.F. Powers in Fargo, ND, for 25 years as a cement mason and retired in 1995.

Arvid is survived by his wife, Adeline; daughters, Debra (Arne) Mickelberg of Audubon, MN, Rachel (Mark) Coppin of Jamestown, ND; sons, Mark (Jayne Howell) Anderson of Badger, MN, Noel (Tonya) Anderson of Hawley, MN; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and niece, Linda Larson of Rothsay, MN.

George Pearson
George Fredrick Pearson, 80, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Frazee Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on April 1, 1933 to John and Katherine(Gaab) Pearson in Moorhead, Minnesota. He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1951. George received a Bachelor of Science Degree of Education in Industrial Arts, Math and Science at Moorhead State Teacher's College, Moorhead, Minnesota. He met the love of his life, Edna Mae Olson, while at college and they were married in Hawley, Minnesota on June 16, 1955.

Marlys J. Hauschild
We celebrate the life of Marlys J. Hauschild, 82, Breckenridge, MN, who was received into Heaven on Monday, October 14, 2013 at her son's home, surrounded by her family and under the care of Riveredge Hospice. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Morris Stephens officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Tyler, ND. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Marlys was born April 12, 1931 near Tyler, ND, the daughter of Courtland and Laura (Meyer) Miller. She was baptized on May 10, 1931 and confirmed on May 20, 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tyler. She grew up on the family farm and attended Summit No. 4, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Floyd W. Hauschild on July 2, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tyler, ND. They resided on the Hauschild home farm. Marlys worked in Food Service at NDSSS from March of 1969 to 1973 taking time off and going back to work from 1981 to 1997. In 1982, the couple moved into Wahpeton, Floyd passed away November 6, 2006. Marlys moved to Breckenridge in 2007, where she has since lived.

Monica Simon, age 58 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home in Park River.

Monica Faye Tufte was born June 10, 1955 in Northwood, North Dakota the daughter of the late Noel and Veree (Pendergast) Tufte. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1973 and Mayville State University in 1976 with a degree in Elementary Education and a Music Minor. She taught school in Pisek, Fordville, Lankin, and Milton/Osnabrock. She also taught private music lessons. She later graduated from Devils Lake State College in 2004 with an Associate degree in nursing. Monica was currently working as the Activity Director at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Park River. Monica was united in marriage to Arlen Simon on April 2, 2005 in Park River.

Marion Elizabeth Thompson
Marion Elizabeth Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born in Westby, Wisc., on July 27, 1920, to Hilda and John Anderson. She graduated from Central High School in LaCrosse, Wisc., and worked at the LaCrosse Garment Manufacturing Company as an operator and instructor, and at the Northern Engraving and Manufacturing Company.

On March 6, 1944, she married Donald Gilmore Thompson. Marion, Donald and their family moved to Fargo, N.D., in 1956, where Marion worked for many years at Scheels Hardware. The family were longtime members of the First Lutheran Church in Fargo.
