Loren L. Helling
Loren L. Helling, 79, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Sheridan Manor.
Loren was born on March 30, 1933 at Walcott, ND to Elder and Annie (Kjelland) Helling. He graduated from high school in Walcott ND in 1953. He was inducted into the Army in April of 1953 were he was stationed at 11 Army post during his 2 years serving in various places in the U.S. and Europe, he was honorably discharged in April of 1955.

The Funeral Services will be 2;00 PM, Thursday, January 3, at Richland Lutheran Church, Rural Walcott, ND, with Rev. Roger Reinhart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Gloria Orrine Landsem was born on February 4, 1927, to Martin and Inga (Berg) Landsem in rural Walcott, ND. She grew up and attended school in Eagle Township south of Christine, ND. After her schooling, the family moved to Moorhead, MN and Gloria worked at the Red River Hatchery.

Lorraine Spelhaug
Lorraine passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo at the age of 93.
Lorraine Ruth Theodora Grant was born on May 30, 1919 in Northwood, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Leva (Myhre) Grant. She grew up on the family farm near Kindred, ND and graduated from Kindred High School in 1937. Lorraine continued her education at Moorhead State Teachers College, graduating in 1942. She taught in rural schools for three years, and then in Ellendale and Hebron, ND. Lorraine was united in marriage to Ilert Spelhaug in Gol Lutheran Church near Kindred. They farmed near Walcott, ND until 1954 when they purchased the Grant Farm near Kindred. She held many offices in the women’s organizations of her church and also the congregation of Gol Lutheran. After Gol Lutheran closed, Ilert and Lorraine became members of Kindred Lutheran Church in 2002. In 2004, Ilert and Lorraine moved to Fargo. Ilert passed away in October of 2010, and Lorraine has made her home at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo since.

James C. Score, 87, Dwight, ND, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Dwight, with Military Honors by North Dakota Honor Guard. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jim was born February 7, 1925 in rural Walcott, ND, the son of Joseph and Clara (Ulven) Score. He grew up near Walcott and attended rural school. Jim entered Army National Guard on September 23, 1950 and was honorably discharged. He served in Co I, in Korea. Upon his return he married Ardis Kay Larson on September 26, 1954. The couple lived near Dwight before moving to Breckenridge where Jim was involved in Larson Transfer Company. They moved to the Larson Homestead in the early sixties where he farmed and did odd jobs in the winter. Jim and Ardis adopted three children: Donald, David, Kathy; and during the 70’s cared for five foster children. Jim continued to farm until 1986 when he retired to take care of his wife. Ardis passed away in 1987, Jim moved into Dwight in 1989. He helped out on the farm for several years. On November 9, 1991 Jim married Shirley Schmid and they lived in Dwight. He entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in November of 2012.
