Snowfall increases risk of major spring flooding in Fargo to 79 percent
FARGO – Recent snowstorms gave a substantial boost to spring flooding chances in the Red River Valley, especially in Fargo-Moorhead, where the river’s risk of topping major flood stage jumped to 79 percent in the National Weather Service’s flood outlook issued Thursday. The Jan. 24 outlook predicted a 6 percent chance of exceeding Fargo’s major flood stage of 30 feet.

Henry B. Horack, age 85 of Waubun, MN, died at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN, on February 19, 2013.

Henry was born July 26, 1927 at home east of Waubun, the son of Frank and Katherine (Stech) Horack. His school years were spent attending the Horack Country School. As a young man, Henry entered the United States Army and served during WWII. Following an honorable discharge, he went to California with this brother to cut huge timbers in the mountains. Henry then moved back to the Waubun area and drove truck for August Vagts.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Lu Boyer will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
