Mary L. Johnson
Mary L. Johnson, 57, of Gwinner, ND, died in her home January 16, 2013, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with cancer on October 12, 2004, and survived for 8 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Dr. Steen called her "The Energizer Bunny".

Mary LuAnn, the third of five children born to Orlie and Hope (Warner) Johnson was born on March 15, 1955 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She graduated from Milnor High School in 1973, and then attended NDSU. On June 18, 1979, Mary became employed with the Bobcat Company, Gwinner, North Dakota, and worked there until retiring April 1, 2010. In October of 1979, Mary moved to Gwinner making it her home, and in 2001 she bought her house. Mary adopted her beloved cat, Guzie, on Mother's Day in 2001. Mary was very involved in her church, softball, and volleyball. She faithfully followed the Minnesota Twins, and enjoyed going to many Twins baseball games with her family. She also enjoyed following the Vikings, the Timberwolves, and the University of North Carolina.

Kelly Melquist
Kelly Melquist, 56, Fargo, ND, died on Monday, January 14, 2013, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Kelly was born September 7, 1956 in Fargo, ND, to Glenn and Nora (Abram) Melquist. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1974. Kelly was an arborist operating his own business, Melquist Tree Care. He loved spending time with family and friends at the lake, where he patiently taught his boys the art of fishing. He liked to hunt and fish and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Kelly was a mentor and friend to many people in his life.

Erle B. Johnson
Erle B. Johnson was born in Valley City, North Dakota to Arthur and Lydia Johnson on December 13, 1932. Erle grew up in North Dakota and attended the North Dakota State University where he got his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. This is also where his love of the North Dakota State Bison grew. Erle met his loving wife of 54 years in North Dakota and they were married in Fargo. Erle worked as a Sales Engineer for Honeywell for much of his career before he retired. He was an avid sportsman and he loved cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and of course his alumni, the Bison. He also enjoyed being outside and hunting and fishing. But most of all, Erle enjoyed being with his family. He loved all of them dearly. Erle was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, as well as a son, Steven. Erle leaves a legacy behind in his sons, David W. Johnson and wife Stacey, and their three daughters, Chelsea, Kendall, and Rylie Johnson, as well as Michael C. Johnson and wife Mousumi Johnson and their children Monica, Kailey, and Steven Johnson. Erle also leaves behind many friends and family whom he loved dearly. A memorial service will be held in Erle's honor at the Christ United Methodist Church of Plano on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 3 pm.
