Lu taught herself to sing beautifully in both English and Norwegian and responded to countless calls to be a soloist for funerals, church services, ALCW conventions and other special occasions. Lu's family and friends enjoyed listening to her play the organ which she mastered on her own. She was a knitter, a crocheter and a needlework artist who could fill a gallery with the pictures, afghans and sweaters she made.
