Jewell Ishaug, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Stanley Jewell Ishaug was born July 26, 1923 in Pelican Rapids, MN, the son of Carl and Johanna (Stubstad) Ishaug. He was baptized and confirmed in the West North Immanuel Church. Jewell attended District #12 country school through the eighth grade. On March 21, 1948 Jewell was united in marriage to Betty Norma Stephenson at North Immanuel, after having dated for two years. He worked on the family dairy farm prior to taking over the operation until his retirement in 1985; however, he remained on the farm until they moved into Pelican Rapids in October of 1993.

Janet Alice Petterson, 73, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

She was born May 14, 1939 at home in Dalton, Minnesota, the daughter of Webster and Alice (Dahlager) Torgerson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton. She attended school at District 9, rural Dalton, and Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1957.

Stanley M. Lund
Stanley M. Lund, 94, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Bowdon, Minot and West Fargo, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Grand Arbor Retirement Home in Alexandria.

Stanley Lund was born June 10, 1918 to Peter and Johanne (Madsen) Lund who came to the United States from Denmark in 1907. Stanley was born on the family farm northeast of Bowdon where he was raised and educated. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bowdon Lutheran Church and his early years were spent helping his parents on the farm and doing odd jobs throughout the Bowdon community.

LaVonne A. Hagen, 76, of rural Cathay, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.

LaVonne Ratzak, daughter of Alvin and Edna (Dablow) Ratzak, was born September 23, 1936 at New Rockford. She grew up in the rural Fessenden and Cathay areas and attended Fessenden Public School, graduating in 1954. She then worked at the FSA office in Fessenden for two years.

James Ole Sampson
James Ole Sampson, 91, West Fargo, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Sheyenne Crossing Care Center.

Ole was born on a farm near Edmore, ND, in 1922 to Chester Sampson and Thelma Lowe Sampson. He was baptized and confirmed in Concordia Lutheran Church in Edmore, and graduated from Edmore High School. He briefly attended Interstate Business College in Grand Forks but left there to help his parents on their family farm. In 1944, Ole married Delores LaVonne Erickson from Starkweather, ND. After serving in the U.S. Army, he and Delores farmed for thirty-three years south of Edmore.
