Elsa Barry, 104, formerly of Bismarck, died on January 13, 2013, at Elm Crest Nursing Home in New Salem, ND.
Elsa Othelia Kutz was born to Adolf and Amelia (Boehlke) Kutz on Feb. 14, 1908, near Sykeston, ND. Elsa attended high school in Sykeston and worked at Corson's General Store. She enjoyed Saturday night dances, doing the Charleston, and riding in a Model-T. When she was 21, she went to Wisconsin to help her sister and then moved to Chicago. She met Theodore Barry on a blind date, and they married on Feb. 10, 1932. Elsa affectionately referred to her husband as Barry, and they were passionate about each other and their life together. They had two children, Sheila Lee and Theodore Ward (Ted) Barry Jr.

Evelyn J. Iken
Evelyn J. Iken, 98, Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Villa Maria in Fargo, ND. Evelyn was born June 23, 1914, to Jacob and Anna Jacobson, Kindred, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Norman Lutheran Church in Kindred. Evelyn attended Richland County School, Moorhead High, and Dakota Business College.
She married Fred H. Iken in 1931. They lived in Fargo and raised one son, Robert. Evelyn worked at Herbst Department Store, NDSU, and Fairmont Retirement Home. She was a long-time member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. She was an active member in the Eagles Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Evelyn cherished her time with friends and family. She was passionate about music and played the piano and organ.
