Luella Wefel, 98, Wahpeton, ND, died December 26, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Service will be at 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Morris Stephens Jr., officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 2 PM to 4 PM with a 4 PM Prayer Service, at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Sunday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Luella Marie Muehler was born November 7, 1914, to Henry and Anna (Laboda) Muehler near Great Bend, ND. The family later moved to a farm in Ibsen Township. On November 2, 1944, she married Orville Wefel. The couple farmed in Mooreton Township until 1974 when they moved to Wahpeton. Orville died August 8, 2008, Luella moved into St. Francis Healthcare Campus -Home in March 2007.

Darleen Akers, 83, a longtime resident of Moorhead, MN, passed away on December 25, 2012, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.

Darleen Patricia Wagner was born on October 26, 1929, to Leo and Gener Wagner in Chicago, IL. By the young age of six weeks Darleen and family moved to Moorhead. Darleen attended elementary school at St Joseph’s Parochial School and graduated from Moorhead Senior High School. After high school she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, which was where she met the love of her life, Robert Akers. They were united in marriage on August 24, 1950, and blessed with three children. In the early years of their marriage, Darleen enjoyed raising her children. She chose to become a “working mother” before it was widely accepted in today’s world. This was the start of her 21-year career as Admitting Manager of Dakota Hospital in 1965.

Gilbert Odegaard
Gilbert Odegaard, age 90 years, of Larimore, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Larimore Good Samaritan Center.

Gilbert Odegaard was born January 25, 1922 to Ole and Bertha (Gilbertson) Odegaard in Adler Township Petersburg, ND. He attended Adler Township School #4. After eighth grade, he began farming with his parents until he married Lois Ostrom in 1975. They lived on the home farm until the couple moved into Larimore, ND in 1993. He was an active member of Lom Lutheran Church, rural Petersburg, where he will be buried in its cemetery in the Spring of 2013.

Donald Score
Donald Score, 55, Dwight, ND died on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, N.D., at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Gordon Lee Officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Willow Creek Chapel from 5:00-7:00 P.M.

Donald Alan Score was born on January 25, 1957 to Georgette Zirk and Herbert Warren of Minneapolis, MN. During his developmental years he was raised in a foster home until his adoption on October 30, 1960 to James and Ardis Score of Dwight, ND. Don attended elementary school at Dwight and graduated from Wahpeton High School in May of 1975. While attending high school, Don was elected student body vice-president and served as the school mascot. He received the G.I. Sholey service award which was voted on by the senior class to that senior which had provided the most service to the school.

James Score
James C. Score, 87, Dwight, ND, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Dwight, with Military Honors by North Dakota Honor Guard. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jim was born February 7, 1925 in rural Walcott, ND, the son of Joseph and Clara (Ulven) Score. He grew up near Walcott and attended rural school. Jim entered Army National Guard on September 23, 1950 and was honorably discharged. He served in Co I, in Korea. Upon his return he married Ardis Kay Larson on September 26, 1954. The couple lived near Dwight before moving to Breckenridge where Jim was involved in Larson Transfer Company. They moved to the Larson Homestead in the early sixties where he farmed and did odd jobs in the winter. Jim and Ardis adopted three children: Donald, David, Kathy; and during the 70’s cared for five foster children. Jim continued to farm until 1986 when he retired to take care of his wife. Ardis passed away in 1987, Jim moved into Dwight in 1989. He helped out on the farm for several years. On November 9, 1991 Jim married Shirley Schmid and they lived in Dwight. He entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in November of 2012.
