I am a homeowner and business owner in historic north Fargo. One of the many reasons our family has chosen to live and work where we do is because of the marvelous work many architects and developers have done on preserving and celebrating Fargo’s original architecture. The city of Fargo has encouraged this preservation and upcycling with programs such as the Renaissance Zone and Remodeling Exemption.

Constance Joy Ohnstad
Ohnstad, Constance Joy…loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away March 12, 2013, at the age of 85. Joy is survived by Mons K. Ohnstad, husband of 65 years, Moorhead, MN; Melanie Ohnstad (Philip Friedman) Minneapolis; grandson Jeffrey Garth Ohnstad Ninnemann (Karin) and great grandson Zander Ohnstad Ninnemann, Moorpark, CA; and sister Jean Nelson (Richard), Bismarck, ND.
Joy was born January 8, 1928, to Glenn and Evelyn (Garner) Bauer. She graduated with honors from Austin High School in Chicago and continued her education at Carleton College. After the war she attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo and Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks earning her registered nurse degree with distinction. She married Mons in 1948. They lived in Sharon, ND, where Joy was the Director of Nursing at the Sharon Hospital.
