Edna F. Strandlien
Edna Florence Lund was born September 8, 1918, in Pelican Township, MN, to Gustav and Hilda (Grandrud) Lund. She was raised in the Pelican Rapids, MN, area where she attended school.

Edna worked as a housekeeper for a family in Fergus Falls, MN, walking the twenty-two mile distance a number of times. She married Ernest Strandlien on December 24, 1938, at Hawley, MN.

Henry "Hank" E. Nelson
Henry “Hank” E. Nelson, 78, of Hawley, MN, died November 8, 2013, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Henry was born June 28, 1935, in Pelican Rapids, MN, and the first born, to Edwin and Violet (Gunderson) Nelson. He grew up in Rollag, MN, where he attended country school, later moving into Hawley where he graduated from Hawley High School. Following high school he joined the National Guard and served our country. One of the major roles he served in was being on a crew that helped revived Fargo after the 1957 tornado. Henry was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church where he was confirmed. Henry married Kathy Malakowsky on September 18, 1971. He worked for Burns Motors, Don Stone’s Motor and the DeForrest Iverson Farm.

Letter: Try to avoid polarizing fight
There is a proposed conservation ballot measure being developed in North Dakota and a coalition forming to oppose it, according to recent news accounts. As well as I can determine, the disagreements are not so much about conservation per se but about some of the details of the proposal.

Larry Fowler, Jr.
Lawrence "Larry" Fowler, 84, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Mankato, MN, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo.

Lawrence Hawley Fowler, Jr. was born April 30, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois to Lawrence and Eloise (Taylor) Fowler. He graduated from high school in 1946 at Elmhurst, Illinois, and graduated from college in 1950 at Grinell, Iowa. His family moved from Elmhurst to Mankato, MN in the summer of 1946.
