The memorial service for Jackie (Jack) E. Johnson will be Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church Chapel. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Jack was born October 1, 1932 in Clement Township, Dickey County, North Dakota, the son of Emory and Selma (Uhlhorn) Johnson. He grew up on the farm, attended a one room rural school for his first eight years of education and graduated from Oakes, North Dakota High School in 1950.

Shirley Dauner
Shirley Dauner, age 84, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Friday, November 30,2012, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN.

Shirley Jarvis was born on April 7, 1928, to Leo and Elva (Gingrey) Jarvis. She grew up in the Glyndon, Minnesota area. Following graduation, Shirley worked as a clerk at the Moorhead dime store. She married Marvin Dauner in Glyndon, Minnesota on March 14, 1948. They made their home on the Dauner Farm north of Hawley where they raised five children. In 1986, Marvin was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives. Shirley was Marvin’s hard working campaign manager. She and Marvin lived in St. Paul during the legislative session. She was well known by many and enjoyed shaking hands and giving hugs. In 1975, she and Marvin were presented with the Valley Farmer and Homemaker award at the Crookston Winter Shows. Shirley and Marvin continued to live in rural Hawley after retirement, spending a few weeks every winter in Tucson, Arizona. They moved to Hawley in 2005 and to Ulen in 2008. Marvin died on December 18, 2010. Through the years, Shirley enjoyed traveling, reading, music and loved spending time with her family...and of course enjoying a special treat of almond M&Ms.

Lars Hamre
Lars Hamre, age 96, of Twin Valley, MN died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Lars Hamre was born December 7, 1915, the son of Edward and Rosa (Nelson) Hamre near Fertile, MN. He grew up on the family farm south of Fertile and attended country school in that area, graduating from Fertile High School with the class of 1934. As a young man, Lars farmed with his family. On October 14, 1938 Lars was united in marriage to Evelyn Dokken in Ada, MN. The couple lived on several farms in Norman County before purchasing a farm east of Twin Valley where they operated a grain and dairy farm for the next 40 years. Lars was a township Assessor in Norman County for many years, a job that he truly loved, continuing even into his retirement. In 1984 Lars and Evelyn sold the farm and moved into Twin Valley and in 1999 they moved into the Normandy. Lars became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in December of 2006, which he called home until the time of his death. Evelyn, his wife of over 70 years, died March 2, 2009.
