Sister Mary Palmer, age 101, a Member of The Sisters of the Presentation, Fargo, ND, died February 3, 2014 at Villa Maria, Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

Sister Mary Palmer was born August 5, 1912, in North Washington, IA. She is one of nine children born to William F. and Mary (Lentz) Palmer. She attended grade school in the Corrine School District No. 23. She graduated from High School at Sacred Heart Academy, Fargo in 1931. Mary Adeline Palmer, as she was known in school, was taught by the Sisters of the Presentation and entered the Presentation Congregation in Fargo in 1929.

Faye Gibbens, 70, co-founder and longtime officer of the North Dakota Association for the Disabled (NDAD), died Saturday, Feb. 1, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Inspired by their son, Mike, who was born with cerebral palsy, Faye Gibbens and her husband of nearly 50 years, Ron, built NDAD from a small Grand Forks support group to a statewide charitable nonprofit helping North Dakotans with a variety of disabilities and health challenges.

Jean (Neumann) Mulvaney
Jean (Neumann)Mulvaney passed away peacefully on January 31, 2014, surrounded by many friends and family. Jean was born in 1939 in Valley City, North Dakota to Albert and Elsie Neumann and grew up in the nearby town of Litchville, ND. She married Donald Mulvaney in 1960 and moved to Beaverton, Oregon in 1966 where she worked as a cook at Mountain View Junior High School. Jean and family then moved to Florence, Oregon in 1979 when they purchased West Lane Plumbing. They owned and operated West Lane Plumbing until 1993 when she retired. Jean enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Jean was actively involved in the community and a longtime volunteer at the Florence Senior Center where she enjoyed the companionship of others and a chance to give back to the community. She was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts and helped out at many Boy Scout functions. Jean had a fun-loving, can-do, adventurous spirit and never complained. She never missed the opportunity to help people through their life challenges.

Jean was a positive influence in many people's life and loved by many. She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2002. She is survived by: Her brother Roy Neumann, her children David Mulvaney, Patrick Mulvaney, Sam Mulvaney, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Timothy Kaim, age 62 of Watertown, SD died Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday Feb. 6 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City, ND with Rev. Dayne Zachrison officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery at Buffalo, ND later in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Timothy Fredrick Kaim was born on Dec. 23, 1951 the youngest of 4 children born to Conrad and Catherine Kaim. He was raised and educated in Buffalo, ND. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Valley City State College in 1973.
