Weather Talk: It was a very cold Monday morning in much of nation
Monday morning, much of this area recorded lows in the minus 20s. Although areas to our south were a touch warmer, the low did manage to drop into the minus 10s as far south as Kansas City, Denver and Chicago. Even Dallas, Texas, dropped to 15 degrees.

Jerome "Jerry" Andrew Kochmann, 89, passed away January 3, 2014, at the Mahnomen Health Center. He was born June 24, 1924, near Beaulieu, MN, to Julius and Veronica (Athmann) Kochmann.

Jerry grew up on the family farm with three brothers and three sisters. He attended North Elementary School and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1942. After high school, he remained at home continuing to farm with his father and worked various odd jobs.

LOS ANGELES - Phil Everly, whose high, close-harmony singing with his older brother Don made the Everly Brothers one of the biggest rock and country acts of the 1950s and early 1960s, died on Friday at the age of 74, the Los Angeles Times reported.
