Bison RB John Crockett goes over 1,000 rushing yards for the season
FARGO – North Dakota State running back John Crockett needed four yards Friday night to reach 1,000 for the season. He got that on his first carry. There would be 12 more times he would get the ball, and the University of New Hampshire spent the rest of the game chasing the Bison junior. He ran for 195 yards in the 52-14 win that sends the Bison to the Division I FCS title game Jan. 4 in Frisco.

Marie Frances Baumgartner, 74 of Valley City, died December 18th surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be recited at 2 PM Saturday December 21 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM at Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Barnesville, MN.

Marie was born on January 28th, 1939 in Fargo, ND to Sylvester and Albertina (Gerbing) Kieselbach. She grew up in Barnesville, MN. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. She attended Assumption School and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1957 with perfect attendance for 12 years. Marie was one of the first employees of the original Barnesville Dairy Queen. She worked at the Fargo National Bank after high school , the Valley City Eagles Club, and Homespun Charm and the Nearly Nu Store.

Verona Kragness
Verona Kragness, 91, Halstad, MN, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Halstad Living Center, Halstad, Minnesota. Verona Isabelle Ellingworth was born December 7, 1922, at home on a farm near Ada, MN, the daughter of Jesse and Clara (Hovland) Ellingworth. She was baptized and confirmed at East Marsh River Lutheran Church, near Halstad and attended schools in Borup, Halstad, and Ada, MN. Verona was united in marriage to Earl Kragness on October 3, 1942, at the Hendrum (MN) Lutheran Church parsonage. She worked from home and raised her children and was well known over the years for her cooking and baking, sharing many special meals with family and friends. She was also employed at Holland’s Hardware of Halstad for many years before she retired. She was an active member of Halstad Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, serving with Ladies Aid, and as chairwomen of the funeral hospitality committee. She also served on the Auxiliary of the Halstad Living Center and Halstad American Legion Post. Verona lived at home until she moved to the Halstad Living Center in February of 2012. Verona is survived by her children, Carole (Jerry) Larson, Climax, MN, David (Janice) Kragness, Warroad, MN, Yvonne (Karl) Thomas, Mentor, MN, Richard Kragness, Hillsboro, ND, and Ronald (Julie) Kragness, Mentor, MN, 2 sisters, Clarabelle Sipe, Ada, MN, and Marilynn (Donald) Krsnak, Hendrum, MN, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, 4 brothers, Orville, Jesse, Marvin, and Burton, and 2 sisters, Ardis Rasmussen and Mabel Rognlie.

Funeral: 11:00AM, Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.
